Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe

Most of the movie fell flat for me, largely because I felt as though the guardians characters were written a little strangely—and I thought guardians 2 was so strong, so it was jarring. But Thanos was surprisingly a pretty interesting villain and saved the movie. I just didn’t really dig the pacing ...

Re: Daily Shenmue - Starting November 29th

Hey I have no idea when or if I'll continue this. I met someone and fell in love, so RIP my life the way it was, but things are much better now so there's that.

Sorry for disappointing, maybe eventually.

Re: Random Thoughts

i don't care at all about the Olympics personally, but it makes sense to root for your home team. It's not that people don't care about other athletes, but they want those representing their country to be the best. I'm pretty sure that holds true for just about every other country that competes. Tel...

Re: The friends of Ringo Ishikawa

Not sure how I missed this, but it looks great. Love how you're implementing seemingly meaningless small interaction. When I saw that gif of him just leaning over the wall, I knew this was the game for me. I remember playing Shenmue with a friend, and we were helping the old lady in the beginning, a...

Re: Daily Shenmue - Starting November 29th

December 17th 1986 Last night I dreamt of the mirror. It was the focal point of my mind, and all I could see was the mirror itself. Every detail was magnified as I traced over its features. The symbol of the phoenix rose quickly to the center of my mind. But soon the mirror was not all I saw. Agains...

Re: Random Shenmue Thoughts

Nozomi really reminds me of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz for some reason, her voice/inflections.

Re: Magic Monaco 2018 details and new Shenmue III screenshot

It looks like Ryo is reaching for Shenhua's hand. Shippers are gunna go wild. Speculation has begun! Have they really gotten to know each other over these many years in the cave?! Will Shenhua reject Ryo? Or are they already together?

Re: House of the Dead Scarlet Dawn

Really hoping I can find this somewhere in the US. I've played every House of the Dead cabinet at least a dozen times. Always a good time.

Re: Does Anyone Here actually like Simulation Games?

Hmm yeah, I suppose I see your point OL. It's a bit hard to pinpoint exactly what it means to be "sim". I suppose flight simulation (and others like) is one end of the scale, but I believe sim can sort of be a gradient--or maybe one aspect, but not the dominating force. Flight Simulators m...

Re: Does Anyone Here actually like Simulation Games?

I like some Harvest Moon games, but I mostly like them for the aspects that are similar to shenmue—insofar as they treat NPCs as real people, rather than as gameplay roles (shops, etc). But some Harvest Moon games really don’t treat their NPCs with much care. In short, I prefer things like Harves Mo...

Re: Dark Souls Remastered.

but that game definitely has the weakest boss battles in the series. I guess it's a matter of preference. Demon's Souls, I feel, had more creative and varied bosses, while Dark Souls, and those after, were mostly just variations of the standard pattern-based boss fights of dodge/hit. Neither is rea...

Re: Dark Souls Remastered.

Demon's Souls is the best of the series and everyone only ever talks about Dark Souls, which is unfortunate. 1.Demon's Souls had the best (most varied) bosses--not everything was a roll fest. 2.Demon's Souls was the least linear, insofar as you could choose whichever level you wanted to go to from t...
