Re: Random Thoughts

Yep. Not that I'm paranoid enough to think they'd be listening to me, because I'm not very threatening, and anyway it'd be impossible to listen to everyone all the time. But, something that's MEANT to hear everything within a decent sized radius and is always sentient and lurking away constantly plu...

Re: Recent Gaming Purchases

The FFXV that I was bitching about up there was played last night. Just did the tutorials, but the combat seems like quite a potentially huge mess for me already. Not a fan of combo-based combat in games like this. Seems a bit TOO many options for variations of a theme when it comes to attacking als...

The Amazon Echo... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazon-SK705DI-Echo-Black/dp/B01GAGVIE4 With seven microphones which are designed to always be able to hear you even when there is music and background noise (we have some at work and they do seem to be able to hear you pretty much all the time), it's alwa...

Re: Random Thoughts

My card got cloned also a while back, to the bank's credit they spotted something dodgy was going on pretty quickly and the card was closed after they phoned me. I also got the £9-odd that whoever cloned the card had done as "test" transactions to see if my details were legit. They then tr...

Re: Recent Gaming Purchases

I was in the same situation until Oct 2012 when I finally got broadband. I went from 56k to 20 mpbs. Being a PC gamer, I'm embarrassed to admit I was in tears. Was it you that said way back to someone on dial up with a big hdd something like "Wowzers, 500gb hard drive and a dial up connection....

Re: Recent Gaming Purchases

Haha the fact I used to use dialup not-so-long ago did cross my mind, and I amused myself imagining the swearing fits I'd have on a daily basis if I still used it! ;-)

Re: Recent Gaming Purchases

Christ fucking Jesus, sweet holy mother of twisted fuck. Usually the XB Live connection seems faster than I usually get, but as of now, about 11 hours after I initiated that download, it's still only on 63%. Fucking atrocious.

Re: Recent Gaming Purchases

Got myself FFXV and popped it into my XB1. Installed the bloody massive disk content (think it was about 44GB) reasonably quickly. Game launches. "This game needs an update! Update size 13.35GB.". :???:  This is gonna be a "leave it on overnight" job, on this connection, 13G...

Re: Politics

Surprised Germany gets that close TBH. Impressed that France, who has been near-bankrupt since the 1980s, still manages to put so much in too. If it's "2% of GDP" though, then technically it's probably about right and Germany and France are probably putting in a good bit more than 2%, sinc...

Re: Politics

The U.S. (NATO, really) military-industrial complex is a HUGE business, and their lobbies ensure that our military and defense agencies buy what they want them to, instead of what might actually be best. You can bet that some people made shit loads off of the U.S. invasion of Irag and Afghanistan; ...

Re: Politics

In this day and age deterrence rather than the other stuff should be a military's MAIN objective, so I agree with that also. The US military hardware is already SO many light years ahead of everyone else's that nobody would be crazy enough to attack it anyway, the fact it's already so damned huge al...
