Re: Yakuza series

Today is a very special and exciting day for all of us at SEGA. Partnering with our friends at Sony Computer Entertainment America, we just revealed our plan to bring Yakuza 5 to the U.S. and Europe at PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas. We also announced that Yakuza 4 and Yakuza: Dead Souls are available on PlayStation Network starting today.

We’ve received so many requests from our fans to bring Yakuza 5 to the U.S. and Europe. Yakuza 5 also made the top of the list of Sony’s #BuidingTheList campaign led by Gio Corsi at Sony Computer Entertainment and we were moved by all the support given to Yakuza 5 by the PlayStation community.

Yakuza 5 continues the epic story of Kazuma Kiryu alongside four other protagonists, following their struggles and conflicts in the seedy underbelly of Japan’s Yakuza underworld. Featuring a new graphics engine versus its predecessor, Yakuza 5 takes players to five major Japanese cities to venture through a life of crime and power.

Yakuza 5 features more mini-games than previous titles, a modified battle system as well as enhanced customizations and interactions in the signature hostess bars of the series. In addition to these features, Yakuza 5 also introduces “Another Drama” which is a series of side stories that focus on each protagonist in-depth and are separate from the main story of the game.

Allow me to also share messages from Toshihiro Nagoshi, the Executive Director of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and the General Producer of the Yakuza series and Masayoshi Yokoyama, the Producer of Yakuza 5.

“After receiving so many requests from fans of the series, we have decided to bring Yakuza 5 to the US and Europe. This title was enjoyed by over one million gamers in Japan. I’m looking forward to seeing how Yakuza 5 will be received by the gamers in the U.S. and Europe.”
- Toshihiro Nagoshi (Executive Director and General Producer)

“Yakuza 5 is the largest and most definitive version of the Yakuza series. The game is filled with depictions of the Japanese way of life, culture, trends, social issues and dreams. You will play as 5 different main characters with a range of different ages, genders and professions and experience their challenges through a variety of character focused, in-depth stories. I hope you can immerse yourself in our rendition of modern time Japan.”
- Masayoshi Yokoyama (Producer)

Yakuza 5 will be available exclusive to PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network in 2015. Please stay tuned for more information on Yakuza 5!

That trailer was exactly the same as the Japanese announcements trailer. The only difference being the theme tune has been changed..

Re: Recent Gaming Purchases

Finished off my current Eshop funds with:

Mighty Gunvolt is exactly what I figured; 8-bit Mega Man style. Super-simplified and fun.
And Sakura Samurai is a pretty cool little surprise. It's all about precision dodging and slicing, and the 3D looks excellent.
I think I'm hooked on the Eshop. There's a lot more I want to get.

anyway, my friends gunna be stationed out in Korea and we're gunna play some FFXIV and RE5 together while he's gone. Main reason I bought one but also because I would like to have a PS3 for MGS games and Yakuza games. (also strangely excited for the new Persona even though I've never really played one much)

Re: Bloodborne

Yeah, dodge around the bigger enemies and study their moves; learn to recognize the animations of their slower moves. That's one of the most important things you can do with any enemy. Once you can spot those, wait until they swing -- and I mean as the hit is coming at you, not just as they're starting it -- and fire off a gunshot. There's a distinctive sound that happens, and you can run up to them, melee attack, and hit them for a ton of damage.

And take note, the big guy with the cape? He's there specifically to troll newbies. He's the hardest enemy in that first area. You don't have to kill him since he's back in that little alleyway, so just skip him for the time being.

Also, if you're low-level, don't risk running around with a large amount of blood echoes. If you've got them, go back to the Hunter's Dream and level yourself up. There's no bonus for having more at a single time. Just take note of how many you need to level up next, and always return once you've got that number.
Also, there isn't any way to save your progress as far as defeated enemies go. They always respawn after you've returned from the Hunter's Dream.

Have to say, you're going to hate the first boss.

Re: Bloodborne

Know that you don't have to engage every enemy, like that executioner. And look carefully for hidden paths you can unlock, you can set it up so that you can skip right past those two wolves until you get stronger. They are easily killed if you parry them though. That's the most important skill in the game. Practice that on lesser enemies and get the hang of it, then the game becomes much easier.

Re: Recent Gaming Purchases

Dubba dubba post.

Just ordered these.
I wasn't much a fan of the demo I played of MGR... but fuck, I really want to like it. I mean, the MGS4 version of Raiden in his own game? I was so excited for that initially. The demo felt clunky to me... but then I was also trying to play it really quickly, so maybe I just didn't pay enough attention to fully understand the mechanics. So at 11 dollars, I guess it's worth it to try out the full game, see if it's worth another chance.
And I always liked Hitman Absolution, even if the mechanics were a bit odd for a Hitman game. Traded it in a while back, but always meant to rebuy it. The fact that the LE has dropped in price to only 13 bucks is nice, so I figured now or never.

And this is the first time I've ever preordered a digital-only release, and it'll probably be the only time. But they have it at a discount on PSN at the moment, so since I was going to get it day-1 anyway, now seemed as good a time as ever.

Re: Recent Gaming Purchases

Nice find! What exactly does that lever on the right do? It looks like it only moves up and down.

I recently saw this on eBay and snagged it. Not a poster like I had originally thought, but still a cool piece of nostalgia.

Re: The Silver Case Remake

Suda and the people working on the game have been handing out these cryptic leaflets to people at PAX East, which routes to believeintheinternet.com (the viral website that's slowly spelling out "The Silver Case")

Re: The Silver Case Remake

That's cool and all, but man, I'm still feeling raw over the handling of this whole release. Adding more content to the version I was practically screwed out of just adds fuel to the fire.
--rant deleted for being redundant--
Gonna be a while before I even play the game because I'm still pissed about this shite.
