I am pleased to announce that Ryo Hazuki has just broken the 1000 mark needed. You all deserve massive props, and I've been glad to help you guys out with this.

When you guys launch the inevitable Shenmue 3 campaign, I'll be there. My word. =)

I feel like sumo don't want ryo in the game, they're constantly changing rules.

Yeah, I kind of get this feeling too. But all that matters is that we've taken this opportunity to show how much support and enthusiasm people have for Ryo and Shenmue. What's more is that with the other two top spot's possibly also getting a no no from Sega due to licensing problems, I think it will look kinda bad if Sega choose to ignore Ryo too (when he has no such licensing issues) and thus deny all three of the most demanded characters a place.

I think all that talk about giving priority to characters who haven't been in the first game is kinda BS to be honest. It's about demand and what the fans want, otherwise why include any of the characters from the first game?

I'd like to point out that the "series not given representation yet" was a community thing; We wanted as much variety in the roster as possible. Given Ryo's popularity, people will have a hard time finding a reason to not put him forward. As this has shown, giving Ryo the axe for Transformed was a bad idea.

1% of Miku's votes were fake, 1.5% of Ryo's votes were fake. But Ryo still had more legit votes. 8)

Not sure how many of you have seen the discussion on Sega's forum about Shenmue III following Ryo's win, but have a read here .

I'm actually more surprised ToeJam & Earl still made it, or that Vectorman beat Bayonetta, dispute her having a sequel coming up and Vectorman not being seen in over 15 years.

It was a wild ride, all things considered.

To be fair though, there was similar backlash against Miku. Almost everyone in the top 3 got loads of flak, except Segata and that was only cause a YT personality plugged him in. Someone there is even blabbing about console exclusives and Calling SUMO the worst devs ever when he was just fine with Banjo last game.

Still, enjoy your victory, Shenmue fans, you earned it. =)
