Re: Osiris (Ubisoft new game)

someone needs to tell ubisoft that the ancient Egyptians weren't Arab

I'd say the depiction in that screen-shot is fairly accurate. The ancient Egyptians were mostly like brown skinned caucasians similar to modern Iranians. Since nothing, as far as I know, has explicitly said "hey these are arabs" we should give them the benefit of the doubt.

That's what's so annoying about how great the DS libary is. You can play DQ9, Ace Attorney, Hotel Dusk, ETC, but you have to do it hunched over a tiny fingerprinted game system. Yeah I don't really like handhelds.

I really wish nintendo would come out with the Wii U equivalent to the gameboy player for gamecube that plays (3)DS games and Sony would simultaneously release Vita and PSP games on the PSN. I would be in heaven.

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

Don't even remind me. I used to always have the latest copy of Electronic Gaming Monthly hidden amongst my books in middle school. I was usually craftier than the artful dodger at keeping it hidden but the one time I forgot it in my desk in math class it happened to be the January or February 2003 issue that literally had like a 20 page editorial on sex in videos games with a highlight on Custer's Revenge.

I went back to the room when I realized that I lost it and looked in the desk but it was gone. The teacher asked me what I was doing there and I said I left something behind and asked if she had found anything laying around. She sad no, but I could see it in her eyes. She knew.

I made incessant dick jokes and erupted with raucous laughter whenever she said the cum in circumference, but for some reason she didn't reprimand me or rat me out. I'd like to think she kept the magazine for her personal fapping pleasure and didn't punish me as a sort of thank you.

I still have a gap in my EGM collection because of it. Damn you Mrs. Fruhauff you crazy bitch.

Re: Japanese Live-Action Movie Recommendation Thread

Well, as for what I posted earlier

時をかかる彼女 - Toki wo Kakeru kanojo A girl drinks some time traveling serum meaning to fullfil her mothers wish and deliver a letter to an old friend.

タイヨウのうた - Taiyou no Uta - It's based on a (semi) true story. It's about Kaoru Amane who suffers from Xeroderma Pigmentosum (sunlight is dangerous to her) and plays music near the train station at night. It's a romanc emovie.

うさぎドロップ- Usagi Drop (Bunny Drop) - It's about a guy who takes in the illegitimate child of his father, whilst the other members of her family want to sent her away.

君に届け- Kimi ni Todoke - Another romance movie. It's about a girl who has a strange name and is the victim of being rumored to be bad luck and weird. She meets a guy who is actually nice to her and then some friends. It's based on an anime of the same name.

ポルノスター Pornosutaa (Porno Star) (or Tokyo Rampage in the US) - A Yakuza who likes trouble and slaying Gaijin and stealing their drugs.

I'm looking for something like インストル (Install) which, I can't watch for monetary reasons. Also can find no ddls.

Slice of Life and Coming of Age movies are what I'm interested in right now.

So, any movies that aren't over the top?

If you're willing to use torrent I can hook you up with a link for a private tracker where I get a lot of J-movies/dramas that has the movie you mentioned(Install). It has one of my favorite actresses so I'm downloading it now :D . PM me if you want the site cuz I don't think trading this kind of information openly is exactly kosher.

Re: What movie are you watching right now?

Last night, I watched Rashomon, and I'm certainly glad I did.

Is that really how you remember it?

Much like Bergman's Persona, it made me feel like a mere mortal when compared to these geniuses. After watching the movie, I've read some stuff about it and there was just too much that went right above my head.
I've never been too bright when it comes to symbolism or hidden meanings, but these type of movies are just far beyond my reach. I'm glad I watched it, but I am certain I haven't gotten from it as much I could/should have.

I'm watching Yojimbo right now (pause to pee, actually), and I feel like it has much more of a story to tell. Rashomon felt more like a study about human nature (again much like Persona) rather than a tale itself.

Have either of youse read the book? And I mean In A Grove because the movie is only Rashomon in name.
I'm not that big on reading, so I think I'll skip the book.
Have you read it?
Several times. I love it.

The word "book" might be a bit of a misnomer, though. Its probably more of a short story. I suggest reading it cuz you can probably finish it inside of 20 minutes. So even if you're not a big reader, which I wouldn't consider myself either, it should be worth it if you liked the movie. Also, since its so old its very easy to read online for free legally.

Re: Lost the car key

people, people, people. i hope you are ready for one hell of a laugh. Little background story first. my girl dropped my keys a few months back and my car key broke (as shown in the pic that is in spoiler tags)

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn306/wellahuh/2013-02-27_00-28-49_396_zps2c20e7b1.jpg

i thought "well i'll just get a copy made to have a new not broken one and use the broken one as a spare" i always kept my keys and single car key together. in my pocket at home on the counter etc..... i never got around to getting a copy made. well last night my friend came over to help me break into the car with a clothes hanger to get the cars paper work out the glove box to take to the dealership. he then notices my FUCKING key sitting in the lock on the driver side door! you have my permission to poke fun and call me an idiot and any other nasty statements your mind can think up!

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

I have a hard time finding music that doesn't blow. Any good recommendations for someone who likes The Pixies, Plumtree, and Nirvana?

If you don't mind Japanese music or songs in English made by Japanese people I can give you a bunch of recommendations.

Elephant Kashimashi - heya
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSMl4s1N6gc
I'm new to this band because I only have the one album my brother recommended to me, but what I've heard from that is great.(the album is called Life fyi). They have a great 90s rock style with strong Beatles influence.

The Pillows - No Self Control
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2EM6lMHxRg
You're probably already somewhat familiar with this group due to their relative notoriety in "anime people" circles. If your knowledge is only superficial I urge you to go deeper. Especially if you're into the Pixies and Nirvana. The Pillows draws from each of those groups heavily. One of the best, most consistently good catalogues I have ever experienced in music. Top 5 bands of all time for me. For a Nirvana fan I would suggest getting the album Smile or Runner's High to start.

Beat Crusaders - Japanese Girl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2J_0EUBVwQ
This band is strange in that most, if not all, of their songs are completely in English, despite the fact that the lyricist isn't that great at speaking it. If you can get past the slight accent and the occasional odd phrasing you're in for some musical goodness. These guys have great pop sensibilities so if you like catchy riffs and big choruses you'll love them. I think they have a small cult following here in the west. Pop On Arrival is their must-have album IMO. popdod is also good.

That's all I got for now. Hope you find something you like :)

Sign this Petition for a better America

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/change-national-anthem-r-kellys-2003-hit-ignition-remix/Rm8SC7FP

we petition the obama administration to:
change the national anthem to R. Kelly's 2003 hit "Ignition (Remix)."

We, the undersigned, would like the Obama administration to recognize the need for a new national anthem, one that even a decade after its creation, is still hot and fresh out the kitchen. America has changed since Francis Scott Key penned our current anthem in 1814. Since then, we have realized that after the show, it's the afterparty, and that after the party, it's the hotel lobby, and--perhaps most importantly--that 'round about four, you've got to clear the lobby, at which point it's strongly recommended that you take it to the room and freak somebody. President Obama: we ask you to recognize the evolution of this beautiful country and give us an anthem that better suits the glorious nation we have become.

I urge you to visit the link provided above and consider participating in a movement that will surely make the greatest nation on earth even greater.

Re: Shenmue HD/3 Kickstarter

Here's hope for those of you that want this to go down:
They posted a kickstarter to make a Veronica Mars movie yesterday and its already at just under 1 million dollars. I'm not too familiar with the show, but it couldn't have been very big cuz the wiki says its network was The CW and it only lasted 3 seasons, yet a campaign to make a movie version is pulling in money at a ridiculous rate. Every refresh seems to increase to total amount by the thousand.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/559914737/the-veronica-mars-movie-project

If this seemingly long forgotten teen drama is doing this good I can only imagine Yu and his team would see results at least on par with this.

EDIT: So I'm reading the wikipedia page to that show and I see this line:
"Upon the cancellation of the series, fans sent more than 10,000 Mars Bars to the CW, hoping that the network would reverse its decision and renew the series."
Sounds like another group I know. Although if you read the rest of the article I think they're a little more devoted than us with the wacky stunts they've done.
