Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

Jesus Christ, why do people just stand there?
Fucking ridiculous. I don't pretend to be some kind of particularly fight-capable badass or anything, but nothing would have stopped me from pulling that psycho off and planting a fist in his face.
Seeing people just stand by like that while someone obviously incapable of helping himself is being attacked... that's just sad.
You'd like to think that people are willing to stand up for eachother when it really becomes necessary, but a video like that just makes that idea seem a little too optimistic. The worst people in that video are the ones that just backed up and let it happen.

I do agree with that. It's a weird social psychological thing. Basically, people would help but they sometimes assume other people with more initiative would go out and do the deed for them. But as a consequence, everyone in the room is thinking the same thing.

This is the most notorious case of that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Kitty_Genovese

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

I paid taxes and earned this. When I was working I only made 3G a year. I don't care who doesn't like it. I went through hell to get it. We went through hell. Getting this was no easy task. It was 2 years of daily hell fighting the courts and those weekly trips to WFS and this hit they gave us. I don;t care what you guys think of me posting that and even if you get angry. I earned it as much if not more so then when I did work. Also news flash millions of people in the US disabled old and young doing the same thing. They all earned every penny. The money isn't just given. It's earned and a great chunk of that is based on the taxes & SS taxes I PAID when working,so I am just getting the money back I paid. So no I won't be quiet. I have no reason to. It's no different than retirement.

And no one is disputing the fact why you should earn it in the first place. I just find it odd that the person who said that above was once the same person who said this below:

What I earn and how much I have is no ones business.(why do you make topics wanting to know personal info about people?)

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

And you should be, I don't mind reading what you intend to do.

Though in my opinion, me being a notoriously private person when it comes to personal affairs other than creative stuff, I think it's best to keep it at a minimum. Gloating about amounts and things like that tends to be worrysome if I do it (openly on a public forum unregistered people can read, no less), I always worry about people breaking in knowing full well what I have if I show it off so I don't. But that's my personal take on it.

As for the VP debates, i'm not. I'll probably just wait for the "highlights" videos to come springing up from my youtube subscriptions.

Speaking of hanging things on walls, i've been meaning to tack on my records on there.

It looks great. I'd get a few paintings as well. Any posters i'd hang now are movie posters, preferably signed ones. But then if I get an office, i'd hang them there instead.

They actually think it's smart to talk shit about others and that it's cool to act superciliously. In reality, it's shallow and boring.

Dude, you're the last person who should be saying that.

Re: Four Movie Loglines (Kenny Movie Updates Topic)

Juggling a couple of projects but the biggest thing I decided to do in DEUX (after watching a couple of clips from WANTED and listening to NIN's Everyday is Exactly the Same, which I love) is make a more prominent bad guy.

My original intention was to make the DEUX games on a national scale. But instead for the first film, i'll play it off as a chapter (under the ruse as the main operation) run by a solitary man who upholds the "dignity" of the original games, terrorizing the Angels into being as meticulous as possible to make sure their contestants don't get out of line. And the Angel who lets Machine Gun Bastard run about gets shot in the head (and properly cleaned off the face of the earth), to be made an example out of.

Once this new villain is killed or arrested, the DEUX chapter disintegrates and is made public. It's thought that this is the end of DEUX...until its found and revealed by Angel post credits that there are actually many more chapters and the DEUX coalition, on a national level, has not been shut down. In fact, they want everyone involved in that chapter dead and buried. Setting the stage for the sequel.

I decided to do this cause Shogun, as antagonistic as he seems, isn't the real badguy. He's just a pawn in the first movie and will eventually form a reluctant alliance with Revolver to fend off the Coalition's forces in the sequel.

The biggest issue is being able to integrate this new addition in the script (I think its very well paced already) but I think I can make it work.

Re: Gaming thoughts of the day

So if the game's method of interaction is so broken to the point where it induces extreme migraines or impossible to use, you'd still play it?

Cause old school Resident Evil and Shenmue, they may not have the most fluid controls but they're bearable. So therefore they're playable. Shit like Superman 64 literally gave me massive headaches playing it, rendering its playability useless. Anything else like motion games or the new wave avant garde stuff really depends on how they make their game interactive.

Don't really side with Mittz saying its factual or OL saying its completely subjective, its all consensus with me. And if a majority says its downright unplayable, then its downright unplayable. If its split down the middle or teeter-tottering, then it's all up for grabs at that point.

Re: Gaming thoughts of the day

For the record though. I do agree with Dorian on Peter not being too into games anymore . Yes he still loves Shenmue but he just hasn't seemed to be into gaming in a sense of finishing a story based game. On PSN he has been playing CoD lately, and some Red Dead , yes it has a great story, but I think he finished it along time ago. And FIFA 13 . He got Sleeping Dogs new and I don't think he finished much of that.

This is just an observation on my part, I am not calling him out for this, just observing. Peter I know is a better man than me and he is looking forward to better things than video games.

How can someone not be into games and be STILL PLAYING GAMES AT THE SAME TIME?

That's called changing your taste. It happens all the time. What you really liked before changes when you get older for various reasons like subject matter, having the time to commit, and so on. Not being into games means you're limiting your playtime or even eliminating it altogether. All this talk about not being tuned into games like its a higher plane of existence is pretentious as hell.

Re: Where did Henry Go?

I really appreciate the suggestion guys but i'm not very interested in the position. Even though I browse and post every day at my leisure, it's just that--my leisure. Being a mod or admin means it'll be like a job and it's not gonna be very fun to be here once that happens. Plus I do work pretty hard behind the scenes, hate to take time out of my own personal work just to go in and say "STFU OR I'LL CASTRATE YOU" in the nicest way possible.

The only time i'll ever accept is if it's High Noon and all the other sheriffs in town high tailed out of here. But there are still good people in their respectable positions.

Re: 2015: Justice League VS Avengers 2

I agree. What made Avenegers so eventful was the fact every main Avenger (minus Hawkeye) had their own movie.

Justice League is more gonna be like "hey hey, look over here! you like Avengers?! well we have BATMAN in our superhero group, BATMAN! you remember Batman don'tcha, even though its not the same Batman you liked in TDK, its still Batman! We also have a few other people you might have not heard of before, but still...Batman! And Superman too if by the off-chance you liked that other movie that had him in it!"

Re: Four Movie Loglines (Kenny Movie Updates Topic)

Working on the second draft of Project Exodus some more. Mostly simplifying the plot and getting straight to the point much faster before the main characters are introduced.

Once this version is done, it'll hopefully be the draft where we can be able to release it and reveal exactly what it is. It's been this big secret for so long and i've been dying to tell more people about it. I'm real excited at its potential. For the time being, i'm printing out both the first draft of that and the final for TECH so I can red ink the hell out of them, finding out ways to make them better.

Re: Gaming thoughts of the day

The SNES/Genesis to N64 and PSone days was the New Hollywood period. N64/PS2/XBOX was the Blockbuster era (MGS, FFVII, ect).

Now we're in the Bruckheimer/Bay era. Where we have blockbusters like Transformers and Harry Potter but they're not in the same quality they were then like JAWS or Star Wars. At least that's the way I feel.

Thank god for Shane Black. I've never seen Lethal Weapon, but reading his script gives me waves of relief and joy. My scripts were going that general direction until I was told to make them "more traditional".

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

After getting my old camera dolly and tripod back, i've been contemplating a short film to do for good practice. Finally came up with an idea.

Not sure how i'm gonna do it, its gonna be ambitious, but I decided to do a short based on a complete shut-in who finds out when he concentrates real hard, he can "open his mind" and be able to bend reality to his will. Do things like levitate objects. The kicker is whenever these things happen, he does a double take--and finds things back to normal in a snap. The character is going to say everytime he finds a startling new revelation "...or maybe i'm going crazy."

Eventually he's visited by a mysterious stranger, which'll be a creepy looking being, and tells him he's there to help. But the main character is convinced it's on to him and refuses to believe it's there to do good. In the end, "demon sounds" get louder and louder and the main guy laments that he opened a realm that's slowly consuming him...or maybe he's going crazy.

It's a classic "is he succumbing to schizophrenia or is it really happening" short. I think it'll be interesting to see if it can be pulled off with a very low to non-existent budget. I need to experiment with invisible string, the lighting, and how to move the camera the way I imagine it. There are also some pretty cool free demon sounds available.

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

Thanks! Baha, basement dweller. He's got no parents though, or any guardians.

I was really hesitant to mention he's a "college student", even though that's what he is, at risk of sounding very stupid on paper. It's one of those things that works better in execution, at least the way I envision it.

I downloaded all the ten page scripts and reading my competition. There are some concepts that sound really good but they're pretty boring when I actually read them. Hardly any personality, just line-for-line description of what's going on and ping pong dialogue (Hey John how are you doing?...I'm doing fine James, how are you?....I'm great, you saw the game on Sunday?...Yeah, the game was great.)

Based on what I read people are more into the "viagra loaded zombie" script, which was...to be nice, an easy read. Easier compared to what I read so far. Man, I know I have more stuff I need to revise with DEUX but i'm taken aback at the way people write their dialogue....

Anyway, we'll see what happens.

Here's one of the newer "to the point" loglines i'm thinking of now:
A DUMB-LUCK college student clashes with a paranoid EXPERIENCED veteran in a weapons testing program...played out like a high-tech duel, for EXUBERANT AMOUNTS of cash. Their unique skill sets cancel each other out--and if there isn't a victor soon, they'll BOTH GET ELIMINATED!
