This is coming from a huge Vita fan, patches can't improve hardware. Using Borderlands as an example, I've played both 1+2 extensively on PS3 and PC, its just not made to run on a hand held. The title is too ambitious, it shouldn't have been given the green light for a Vita port in the first place. The console version of BL2 runs at 720p and consistently has massive frame rate drops due to the draw distance, particle effects and shaders. Not to mention the texture issues. Have you noticed all the things they've taken out to try and get it to run better on Vita? Enemies no longer rag doll but disappear due to lack of ram, less enemies altogether, half the things don't have shadows, and there are tons of effects missing in various places just to name a few. And with the lack of L2/R2 your control options are limited.
You see the same issues when games built on PC are ported to consoles like Skyrim, Fallout 3, BF3/4 just to name a few. The freezes, occasional stuttering and things like that are cause by them being built on machines with higher specs, then ported to consoles with less ram than a PC built in 1999 lol. The more you play Skyrim/Fallout, the bigger that save file gets, the more issues you have since the system doesn't have the ram to keep your file and textures loaded at the same time. That's why those two titles ran better on 360 than PS3.
