Since I only just bought a PS4 in November last year Sony's plan to release this 'PS4K' (or whatever they want to call it) doesn't sit entirely well with me. It makes concerned about the long term viability of the baseline PS4 as a console. Still, I wanted to buy a PS4 late year anyway, because of games being released in early 2016, the promise of a slightly better version in late 2016 or early 2017 wouldn't have altered my decision. I'll just have to wait and see how this unfolds, whether publishers are even going to use that extra power anyway or not.
Besides, as someone who owns a 32X, perhaps I'm not one to judge when it comes to incremental hardware upgrades. I'd honestly be happy if Sony provided a way to boost the power of my existing PS4 to match the PS4K, like how the Mega CD and the 32X worked with the Mega Drive. But I suppose the PS4 wasn't designed with expansion slots...
