Well it is April 1st, so anything you read on the internet today should be taken with a grain of salt.
But either way, that still seemed pretty legitimate (unfortunately). He put forth an iconic voice for an iconic character, so it's a pretty big bummer if he wasn't even invited to take part in this one.
Not sure how well I'll react to an english-speaking Snake that isn't David Hayter, myself. I mean yeah, it's Big Boss, not Snake. But that still just sounds like an excuse.
I can't really imagine a good reason for a change, either. Apparently Hayter wasn't even approached, so it can't be that his asking price was too much or anything.
Eh. I guess we'll just have to see how things pan out.

well were see if this is true or not soon i guess but if you watch any comic-con clips of him on youtube, i think he doesnt enjoy just being known as the voice as snake (i think hes a Screenwriter or something)

Hayter referred to his voice acting career as a "side job" in one interview I saw. I think he prefers to be known as a serious filmmaker rather than a VA since that's what he's been trying to do in the past decade. In fact he said he even turned down 100K from an investor for his upcoming film, who in turn wanted to learn VA from him.

Cool thing I found out though is that he founded a SCI-FI Screenwriting contest. Once I finish polishing this dreaded first draft of Project Exodus and make it "readable", I'll submit it to that.

Well it won't be the same. That's not to say that it'll be bad, obviously (when is a Kojima game ever truly bad?), it'll just be missing a certain key element that many people always enjoyed from previous game.
Still gonna be worth getting either way, I'd imagine.

yeah I have some buddies on FB that are boycotting the game because of it, thats why I posted that in the first place. Dern assholes, wont even give the new guy a chance...

Also is the main character ins MGS5 actually solid snake, or is it someone else? Big Boss, or one of the other clones?

So big boss was in a coma from the end of the metal gear series, until now? i dont feel that bad about the voice actors being different, if that were the case we could all bitch about solidus voice being different, etc.
