He just reviews stuff for some quick laughs, it's not to be taken seriously. FF VIII was great up until the orphanage part (that's when things really got messed up), however he disses every bit until then.
As for the FF X, the 2nd part was also very good, it's incredibly funny, he really is the funniest guy (along with Doug) in TGWTG

True but I can believe him that he doesn't dig it though.

He even did a whole blog section slamming the fan explaination for the ending and sells t-shirts that say "FFVIII Sucks". I only played two demos for FFVIII and I wasn't terribly impressed anyway. I'm sure he has to exaggerate but after sitting through his review of FFX (now that you're saying the second part is up, i'm defo gonna check that out) it didn't seem to me he took it out of context. He just quips and adds his own commentary to make it funnier.

It's all due to the change in quality over the generations Ryudo. Now, almost every RPG on PSX is God-like. Then, there was so much selection a moron could rightfully bitch. Well, not so much rightfully, but you get my point haha. Seriously though, FFVIII and FFX are both great games, as is FFXIII imo.

I wouldn't go so far as calling them great games but they don't deserve the hate they get.

I've got some issues with the game mostly relating to story (like FFX being a super textbook "Chosen" storyline or VIII just not making any freaking sense after a certain point) but I really enjoyed the junction system and enjoyed X enough to 100% it.

I'm really enjoying FFXIII so far and I haven't reached the open-world part yet (currently on Chapter 9). Only gripe I would have about it so far is the Upgrade system.

Meh, a lot of criticism thrown at it hasn't really sat true with me and I'm enjoying it regardless. I just want to do those supposed monster hunting missions like they did for FF12. Loved that part in the last game, even if I just couldn't do the later ones. Damn you Pylraster.

I loved FFXIII it's just the whole part of the game opening up doesn't happen. The map gets wider but you still go to one place.

I can take not having open worlds as I love some RPGs greatly that are very linear however what would bother me is no towns.
That is just a deal breaker for me.

What is there not to get about someone not liking a Final Fantasy game? I only like three of them (FF6, FF7 and FF9). Opinions are bitches, I know. Yet to play FFXII or XIII, though.

Why though? Wandering around towns to talk to gormless NPC's who contribute nothing to the story or to talk to a cat that says '......*meow*' isn't so necessary to the experience is it? Don't get me wrong, I don't hate on RPG towns entirely, they're a source of downtime in the game from fighting all the time, can lead to funny moments or provide nice scenery but I never understood why they're so integral for most people.

They...have shops and you can...buy things? They're sort of important.
