30 minutes of Twelve Tales Conker. Presumably from a playable copy that exists in the hands of an ex-Rare employee.

I bet that cart must be quite the collectors item by now.

Really. The last Mega Man was published in 2010. It's to be succeeded by a mobile social game. Don't get any ideas that Capcom has some secret full-title ready to announce either. One of the most shut-up-and-take-my-money fanbases out there, and Capcom elects to troll them with this instead.

Well, the fans are going to troll right back. And the outright mockery of this flash "version" of Rockman Xover should sting. It was built in 24 hours using five-year-old software. "We did this to show how effortless it is to create the core *feel* and gameplay of Xover," the creators say in one of the game's concluding screens.

The funniest part of all this, is thats how it actually plays.

There's one for Dinosaur Planet as well before it became Star Fox Adventures. Pretty amazing considering they were working with N64 hardware.

There are no miracles when it comes to hardware. If something looks amazing when compared with other software for a give hardware, then it's not because the authors are magicians - it's because the other devs are shit.

Actually, they had more resources and time since Rare was part of Nintendo. But what I meant was considering what everything else looked like on the system, that's pretty cool stuff.

Gotta love GoG riffin on the apple commercials. Still This could end up being Ryudo, Vyse and OL's wet dream if they do actually figure out a decent way of offering hard copies of games even if its just thumb drives. (Worth mentioning because La Mulana, The Witcher 2, Retro city Rampage, Faster then Light, to the Moon, and Mutant Mudds are all on it)

Vampire Hunter D for the PSX is very slow control-wise and the PAL version is atrocious, but I'm still enjoying it immensely. One of the best horror games on the PSX when it comes to OST and atmosphere. It got shitted on because the controls feel retarded at first and people just turned it off after 10-20 minutes, instead of actually learning how to play it properly.

It's so typical to shit on something just because we suck at it. People...

Or maybe it's shit development. Customer can't be blamed for the quality of a product.

"Shit development" is a term that I would use for 3/4 of games produced today.

Vampire Hunter D is a great PSX software. It came out very late in the console's lifespan and it was unique enough for people to unjustly hate it.

Oddly enough, that's in a perfect parallel with D's character being unjustly hated in the VHD universe.

Heavy Rain also has a great OST. Everything else about that game is totally overrated.

Plus, people didn't hate HR. I hate HR. Justly.

It scares me that a scriptwriter like you is attracted to games with such terrible scripts like those of David Cage.

Well, poor controls could possibly be forgiven if it was a launch title or early in the PlayStation's lifespan. The very fact that it was late on points to shit development on either one of two fronts:

- They didn't know how to implement controls to the expected standard.
- The did know how to implement controls to the expected standard, but didn't.

If a game doesn't play well, then it's very existence has failed. And if that is so, then the developers have also failed. Which is what I mean when I say "shit development".

It's not up to customers to "just give it a chance". A game can have whatever message, quirky style or art direction it wants, but if it lacks quality in the most basic and essential departments such as controls, then it doesn't deserve the chance, as the developers have either been too lazy or too stupid to focus on one of the most important elements of a video game.

Realistically speaking, they couldn't make better controls for a PSX survival horror game with pre-rendered backgrounds. The controls are as clunky as in RE1-3. That's just how these mechanics work on the PSX hardware. It's actually a part of the PSX experience, just like crude animations and jerky FMVs.

If a game doesn't play well, then it's very existence has failed.

Stop using the childish Aristotle's logic. Paraconsistent logic exists for a very long time. In fact, Aristotle himself talked about inconsistency-tolerant logics.

There's a lot of video games that don't fit the "plays well" slogan, but they are still enjoyable, or even amazing. The simplest example in this context is the first RE game. VHD plays a lot like it, but it's hated just because it came out after it? It's simply unjust to look at it that way.

There's far more examples of the "tank controls" PSX games that don't "play well", but are still very enjoyable. Like Galerians. Even this board has a great fan of Galerians, OL.

Video games are far more than shooting the shit out of everything with easy-to-use control schemes. But this discussion is mostly about understanding the concept of respect for old video games. People are quick to judge the surface and being cocky about it when, in reality, they miss a great world buried deep down inside. Sadly, most people's best is to use hackneyed phrases while talking about things they have no factual idea about.
