I have two japanese friends and strangely enough their fathers both own sushi restaurants in my area. Regardless, they've pretty much given up trying to pronounce sake correctly because none of their customers ever do. Also when I was in Japan my brother wanted to buy some Berserk manga while we were there. He asked a lady at a book sale if they had "berserk" and she didn't understand him. Our friend, who speaks japanese, went up to her and said, "be-ru-se-ru-ku" or something and she immediately understood. It made me laugh :P

Language is cool.

That's one of the awesome benefits of learning katakana. Once you get that down you can figure out how to properly say English words with a Japanese accent and boost your vocabulary like a boss without even trying. Borrowed words, particularly of the English variety, are rampant in Japanese and you'll come across them even in high-level writing.

We must use this to our advantage and make those moonspeak words our linguistic comfort women!

Just got back from a couple days spent at my mothers and I got a chance to break out the old NES and play some of the older games in my collection. I was mildly surprised that all of my games still worked. (after removing and re-inserting a couple times for a couple of them) I was much more surprised to see that my Zelda 1 and 2 game saves were still intact.

The first I tried was TMNT, mostly because I saw the AVGN review and wanted to try it again for old times sake. My gosh that game is hard. Not even so much the bosses, they were easily beat down with simple patterns. But those enemies. Often I found it was utterly impossible to get through without getting hit as they were going batshit before you even finished climbing up a ladder. Some of the jumps were supremely unforgiving and missing one meant being dumped into a bunch of badies who had all respawned in seconds.

Finally, the damn dam level was tougher than I remembered. You have to hump a bunch of bombs turtle style to deactivate them, which was probably the best part of the level. But the seaweed SUCKS. As difficult as the controls were, I noticed some mystical force suddenly pulled me right constantly while swimming through the maze of seaweed that was not present earlier. Next thing I know, I've saved the day but Splinter is caught and now I have to defeat the foot clan. I say FUCK Master Splinter, I'm playing Zelda.

There's a photo doing the rounds at the moment regarding Japanese 3DS games, supposedly this is leaked from a secret press conference from a while back:

Project X Zone became true. Oh man, but if we get Time Travelers, EX Troopers and Bravely Default all released in US and EU too. \:D/

Capcom has flat out said no way EX Troopers comes to the US. I'd love to be wrong but they held firm on that statement.

It's Capcom.

So when they say they've opted to screw us over instead, you know they mean it.

Just started playing Star Trek Online, I mean hell its free to play on steam. I am a Trill science engineer by the name of Pathrup Dishaka of the USS Exidor. Game seemed pretty cool, I might have to keep on playing it.

I gave it a try, but stopped playing a few levels in. The game was fun when it was a bunch of star ships blowing the crap out of each other and rather average when it came to the "away" team missions. I guess I could give it a second look if a few Dojo'ers gave it a go. It's free enough.

Absolutely. The demo for EX Troopers was great on PS3.
But I'm even more excited over Time Travelers. That one looked like it'd have a really great story. And the cinematic presentation of it is fantastic. I was so sure we wouldn't be getting it, but it'd be great to be wrong.

Believe it or not Time Travelers has the best shot of being localized of the three.

Underneath it says Panasonic which makes me think it was more displayed on a TV in some kids bedroom rather then in a press conference.
