Virtua Fighter Trademark Renewed

The Virtua Fighter trademark has been renewed in July according to http://www.trademarkia.com/virtua-fighter-74472195.html
It has been 10 years since Virtua Fighter 5 came out, 6 years since its latest revision Final Showdown hit the arcades...
Of course this could just be business practice, remember when Sega failed to renew the Shenmue trademark.
I'd love to hear your opinions/theories on this guys.

I remember they did something similar 2 or 3 years ago. Nothing came out of it and I guess it will be the same now...
Of course I would love to see a new Virtua Fighter in some form or another.

Wasn't there a guy on Neogaf who said he had some insider info about the announcement of Shenmue 3/HD and a new Virtua Fighter at TGS or Gamescom IIRC? Few months later Shenmue 3 was announced.

There's been someone saying that about every event for the last fifteen years. One of them was always going to be "right" if the game was ever going to be announced.

As far as I'm aware, they still exist but work mainly on the Arcade side of things now.

Might not mean anything. SEGA renewed the Skies of Arcadia trademark some years ago and nothing came of it.

And the Shenmue trademark for that matter. It's a regular thing for any company that has names to protect.
