So it looks like Sega has actively pursued this. Yakuza developers are currently working on this classic anime.

It may indeed fit better in the Yakuza engine then it did in the Dynasty Warrior one: after all, Fist of the North Star is not only about fighting and exploding heads (not sure about Ken working as a barman, though ).

After playing the first Ken's Rage, I became a total FotNS nut and watched through the entire anime in the span of something like a week and a half, two weeks. Eventually imported the PAL version of Ken's Rage 2 and loved that, whilst most others turn their noses up at it because of low production values or whatever.
I am a fan of Fist of the North Star, so this news is music to my ears.

Well, to be fair, that is mostly what it's about. The real kicker here, to me personally, is that a more Yakuza-esque style of play will more accurately represent the action from the anime and comic; I loved Ken's Rage, but fighting a hundred guys at once, a la Dynasty Warriors, isn't usually what Kenshiro was actually doing in the source material. But fighting smaller groups and actually locking on and focusing on individuals, as in Yakuza, should reflect the original material a bit better. Plus, Sega is probably just prone to higher production values than Koei anyway, so that's appealing in and of itself.

^ I Played Ken's Rage, but not the Ken's Rage 2. I liked it very much honestly. I own the soundtrack from Ken's Rage which so many good tracks that perfectly fit the game. IMO i'd consider it as a hidden gem from Koei on the XBOX 360.

As for the upcoming FONS, I can't get over how remarkable SEGA has developed this game, looks fantastic with the 3D cell shaded graphics and Kenshiro as a bartender nice, humor seems to be there and looks like its following the authentic style of the anime. Many people forget that this was before Jojo Bizarre and that as another good game in its own right and anime but yes I look forward more of this at TGS SEGA.

Ken's Rage was a fantastic game, I replayed it so many times over the years! The only thing I think it lacked was a sense of adventure: the game usually dropped you in the middle of a battlefield to fight the bad guys, but Ken is also supposed to be on a quest (actually more than one). That's why I think it may fit better in the Yakuza engine, because Yakuza is all about both fighting AND quests

Oh shit... it really does look like a Yakuza game.
Not a massive fan of the rendering/graphical style (even on their lower budgets, I think the Ken's Rage games had that stuff down perfectly, so I'm incredibly biased), but actually seeing how populated the world of Hokuto is is really nice, and that battle system is straight out of RGG.

That trailer both made me excited... and also made me cringe once or twice.
Are they seriously putting hostess clubs into this? Jesus. Talk about the most out-of-place shit you could ever conceive to put into a Hokuto game. Regardless though, that stuff was usually skippable even in the Yakuza series, so hopefully it's just relegated to the same status here.
Everything else looks minty though. Even the little bits of driving and whatnot (which I kind of hope is actually a mode of transportation across an open world, rather than just a closed-off minigame or something).
And, hey, stuff to make Shenmue fans perk up: you can find a console and play old AM2 games (and classic Hokuto games as well, apparently). Looks pretty sweet.
I wonder what the odds are of it getting localized.

The game uses the Yakuza engine that is used in 6 and Kiwami 2

In addition to Kiryu's voice actor playing Ken, Nishi is playing Shin, and the voice of Majima is appropriately playing Jagi. Also, Haruka is playing Rin

And of course the voice of Ryuji has to be Raoh. I can imagine the voice of Kazama either being Ken's master or Toki.

Love the Fist, didn't come to love Yakuza. Dissapointing. The fights in yakuza style so yakuza style that i can't unsee Kiryu. So it's just some kind of cosplay game to me.
