Let's also see who can go highest...

OK to keep this America-friendly; One US gallon = 3.785 litres.
I paid 87p/litre for my last tank. So 87 x 3.785 = £3.29 per gallon.

According to XE.com, £1 GBP = 1.81193 USD, so 3.29 x 1.81193 =

$5.96/gallon.

That wasn't the highest p/litre I've paid either. And diesel is even more! :o

And they are thinking of making us pay even more (UK) by "pay as you go" kind of thing where you pay so much every mile.

HA! thats if your lucky.
In the South of England the prices are ridiculously expensive.

The average price per litre for Unleaded fuel is about £0.87
And i have seen diesel for £0.93 per litre.
It is obscene!

Yeah, gas ain't cheap in Europe, thats for sure (never has been, never will be).

Currently, oil is about 55$ per barrel in the US, which is pretty high as well. I would expect it to drop a little this fall. Due to the high value of these fluids, a lot of producers are opting to go out and restimulate old wells, as it only makes economical sense to do that when the market is well. Some wells haven't been touched in over 20 years and are just now being deemed profitable. Stimulation always costs more or less the same, but the return fluctuates, so that explains recent spikes in production. As soon as the fiscal year winds down and these wells are at steady production, it will surely get at least a little cheaper.

stupid Americans and your incredibly cheap gas prices, here it was not too long ago around $3.5-$4 a galon (about $1 a litre)

although apparently Europe is worse

also not all of Canada is that high, I live in an incredibly isolated city

Hey, Europeans! Doesn't it make you laugh to hear American's bitching about "high" gas prices at two bucks a gallon!? :D
cApNhOwDy wrote:So we have no more record lows? I officially have the lowest gas prices in the US/UK?
Oh, I have a lower than that, though it's 12 years out of date (to compare, in mid '94 US prices in the South were $1-$1.20). In 1993 I bought petrol for approximately $0.12 per liter/£0.08 per litre. That's about 45c per US gallon or 36p per UK gallon.

......I was in Kuwait! :D
