thats the only place in the world i ever want to emigrate to, due to my love of the below:

culture
adam and joe go tokyo (BBC)
shenmue (of course)
and ive always loved the place since i was young

But i was recently told (just before i was about to take some japanese lessons) that it is hard to fit in there and i was told they are quite harsh to outsiders so to speek, which put me off the move and lessons i hope im wrong.

and i hope you love it also!!

That'd be an awesome experience to live in Japan for 2 years, and if worst comes to worst, you could always move back yourself, right? I doubt you'll regret going to live there, however-I think all Shenmue fans would dream of going to Yokosuka someday.

Okinawa is far from the main islands of Japan, having relatively unique cluture.
And, it was occupied by America for 27 years after the World War II, you know?
It's quite natural for them if they build up a strong identity of being Okinawan.
