I can't believe Origa passed away. What a shame.

I have been enjoying Space Brothers, of all things. Unique, light-hearted fun.

New Dragon Ball Z movie called The Resurrection of Frieza. I really like they are expanding upon the frieza storyline, I feel like its one of the best parts of the show and that fans know the most about this particular story arc. Alot of people feel the anime/manga should have ended after the frieza story arc like toriyama originally intended. It looks like some good ole fun between the z force and friezas army, I think it will be a nostalgia trip too to some extent. My only real gripe is they are giving Frieza another form, his ultimate golden form or something? We will see what their explanation of his new form is. Also, I hope Vegeta kills Frieza this time lol

I'm debating if I wanna rewatch inuyasha so I can watch the final act. I was so pissed when the show ended before finishing the story. And now it's been like 10 years since I finished it, and I don't remember anything, so I can't just start the final act. (I tried and had no idea what was going on.)

I honestly don't think it's that awful of a show, it just went on too long.

Well, i've been watching One Piece for the past 2 months or so and I'm around episode 500. If I recall, One Piece doesn't really get a lot of love around here at ShenmueDojo, which is a shame, because I think it's probably the best of it's kind, right along side Hunter X Hunter.

Really like this ending during the Water 7 arc -- probably one of the strongest arcs in the series -- and I would just sit and watch this ending after each episode... never wanting to skip it. It just fit the mood perfectly. I love how it shows the crew from the beginning until now (at that point) and all the things they've been through together.

I had someone once tell me that she hated one piece because it was too long... but she had never even seen it. She just thought "why don't the just let it die?". I just told her "shut up, you're ignorant and sound like an idiot, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about". Which was true, she didn't. There are so many anime fans out there who look down on Shounen shows for whatever reason -- they stick to shows they perceive to be "deep" or whatever the fuck... when in actuality they're missing something else entirely. Thoughts of camaraderie, adventure, heart. Evangellion isn't "deep" because it's confusing as shit, fucking sorry, go away and don't enjoy anything good -- I don't care. Such an annoying group of people to me, stuck-up anime fans, the ones who don't end up watching anything good.

Wow that was a tangent but god it is annoying. I'm not saying all Shounen shows are good, god no, but some are good and some are very good. One Piece is very good.

I like shounen shows and all the magical childishness that goes along with it, but your "friend" is kinda right. They should be more succinct. It doesn't take 52 episodes and a full movie a year to convey thoughts of camaraderie, adventure and heart. I pretty much quit trying to get into these kinda of shows because its too much like work catching up and then trying to stay up to date. But I don't really watch that much anime these days anyway.

I know it's obvious, but I really have to disagree. Length has absolutely nothing (or at least very little) to do with the quality of the show. Its only the time frame set with which the show has to accomplish all that it needs. One Piece absolutely could not accomplish all that it does without its length, and it accomplishes very much.

There are shows I absolutely love that are four episodes long, and there are shows I love that are over 100. When my friend said, "can't they just let it die" she was talking about ending it strictly because of the shows length with no regard towards (or knowledge of) the show's actual quality. That's why I think she sounds stupid.

It should be said also that I don't find One Piece to be childish really at all -- even though it obviously is a kids manga/show. I think of the term "childish" to be in accordance with things that are frivolous or hold little value or immature, and while One Piece may at times show instances of whimsy or whatever, at its core it is very adult -- whatever adult truly means.

Maybe that was a poor word choice. I didn't mean that in an attacking way. What I meant was, if I can quote the Bible, "Not Childish, but Childlike."

I don't know enough about One Piece specifically to keep arguing this but I doubt that this is like the Don Quixote of anime and it needs to go on for an eternity and can still be great the whole way through.

No bigs, I didn't think you were being attacking at all or anything. I've just now realized how passionate I am for this manga. The thing is though, One Piece has been going on since 1997 and it has been consistently great the whole way through.

I just genuinely think One Piece is a masterpiece and get really frustrated when people write it off because of some pre-determined bias against it being a shounen series or it being a long series. Neither of which really mean anything.

I just see it so often, some uptight/pretentious anime fan getting it wrong... trying to tell me what's good when they don't even have a clue themselves. I don't know... it's a pet-peeve of mine and I can't even properly put it into words. It's not that they don't like One Piece, it's that they have the inability to like One Piece.. that's what bothers me.

I need to stop talking about this though because I'm sure nobody cares and this is about when people find me annoying.

I enjoy one piece but I found it hard to follow after 150 episode. Though at least unlike other anime that have hundreds of episodes it doesn't try to make most fights drag on for as long as possible.

I surprisingly have little to say about this conversation. I like shonens, DBZ, Naruto, Initial D, are among my favorite animes ever, but the "deep" shows I also like too GITS, Bebop, Wolfs Rain, the depth is just there . There are good from each of those anime genres and I only find it annoying when people love the more obscure shows simply because they are obscure and hate on the popular ones simply because they are popular.

I talk like that to my friends. She was acting like an idiot and sounded like one -- she'd say similar things to me in other situations. We're not the type of friends who pussyfoot around. I'd never say that to a stranger or someone I don't know very well though, since that's just fucking rude.

But yeah as AG said, my main issue was not with One Piece specifically, but rather with people and their biases. I don't care if someone doesn't like One Piece, that's their taste and whatever, I just have a problem with people having pre-conceived notions of not liking something -- before even understanding anything about the thing they don't like.

To be fair, One Piece is more the exception rather than rule in terms of maintaining a consistent high quality.

I just finished semi-binge watching Log Horizon 1 and 2. I liked it a lot more than Sword Art Online. I also watched Durararararara x 2 to its mid-season hiatus and remain hyped for JoJo every week.

I probably should have gotten into One Piece instead of Naruto now in hindsight. The manga is finished and they're just dragging it on with filler now for the sake of dragging it on and milking the cow and I'm about fed up with it. It's just that after sticking with it for so long I need closure. :( I would get into One Piece, but after Naruto I don't think I'm up for another 600 episode epic ever again. They do have a certain kind of "As the world turns" appeal for Anime fans going for them, but it's just such an investment. I think I may just limit myself to 26 and 52 episode shows. Code Geass is as long as I want my Arcs to last.
