Well it does take a bit of patience at first, so it's not just you. And it definitely is one of those that takes a couple (or a few) re-watches before you've got all of the smaller details down. Lotta layers to that show.

Just started watching Kodocha. It was kinda hard to find the whole series. But I did. Digging it so far.

Please tell me where you found the whole series, I remember finding it once but the subtitles were all messed up. :/ It was such a sad day of being really excited and then really let down.

I was thinking of getting it one time. I always figured it was just the zany, wacky kind of anime, so what you were saying about it being more emotional and whatnot actually piqued my interest in it a little more.

It starts off as a zany mech robot fighting anime. But quickly has tragedy and turns into the fight for the human spirit and all life. 2nd half get's darker and more emotional as more tragedy but at the same time has some really over the top idea like mecha's the size of a galaxy. However it works really really well. I have to say it's one of the best done anime I have ever seen. It's not as deep as say CB or GiTS but it's a great balance of zany and emotional. Also a bit of unexpectedness.

Cool. It's by Gainax, so I always figured it'd be good (FLCL is a favorite of mine). Really need to check it out now.

Gurren Lagan was pretty good. I came close to abandoning it the first couple of episodes in. Then it got better and deeper like Ryudo says.
