Shin!
But as none of you guys know Shin it is also worth noting that I am in Japan!
Iam sitting in a 24 hour Comic Cafe right now. A comic cafe is a place where you can use the Internet, play PS2, read comics or just sit around. The walls are covered with thousands of Manga comics and this place has about 10 PCs with Internet access, a Coke machine, a ciggy machine and a surprisingly clean bathroom as well!
Right now it is 8;15 in the morning and there are 3 guys who fell asleep in front of the PS2s and one more guy sitting next to me reading comics. Nobody here speaks a word of English but my limited Japanese has worked for me so far.
I will try to go to this place more often and keep you updated of my journey through this land of miracles and digital video phones.
So my first anecdote is very Shenmue related so I have to tell it:
My hotel is a small family run hotel. When you get in you have to take off your shoes and wear house slippers. Good thing I always take my house slippers with me whenever I travel (not kidding).
It is run by an old japanese Lady who also speaks not a single word of English but allegedly there are only foreign tourists staying at this place right now. Not sure how they even managed to check in as I needed the help of Shin to get me checked in. The 14 inch TV in my room takes a 100yen coin for one hour of TV. But the weirdest thing is that is extremely reminds me of the COme over Guest house. I stay in room 201 (ring a bell?) and my room looks exactly like the ones in the guest house. So does the staircase. I will deliver pics later, as soon as I bought a digicam. There is only one shower for the whole building and one bathroom for one floor. When I look out of my window I see about 1 foot of space and then the opposite wall of the next building. So no view at all. But about 1 foot of space and then the opposite wall of the next building. So no view at all. But why care about the view anyway. Not much to see in that part of Tokyo anyway. I prefer Shinjuku when it comes to entertainment anyway. That is where I am now as well.
Well, I think I will buy a pack of cigarettes (1,29 pounds or 80 US cents) and then head out for the next Pachinko plaza or maybe play some Dance Dance Revolution.
So I let you know how my travel is going as often as I can!
Ohayo gozaimasu!
Phil
