When the Dojo begins anew

I like this place.

And no, I'm not drunk.
When I first open up Firefox everyday, you know what the first site I go to is? This fucking place. Half out of habit, I suppose, but it's mostly because I look forward to seeing what you assholes have to say each day. You guys are an interesting, entertaining lot, and the community that's been built here is one of the more intelligent that I've ever come across on teh interwebz. And even when it comes to flaming and tossing insults at one another, as long as it isn't too offensive, just about anything goes, which makes it a lot more fun here (and most people take it all in stride).
I'm not trying to impart some kind of deep attachment to this place or anything. If it suddenly went away forever, fine. It's just another site on the net. But all honesty, it's one of my favorite sites on the net. And if I had the choice, I'd keep it around.

So anyway, after Gamespy does away with the free site hosting, the Dojo is supposedly going to restart somewhere else. And I was fine with that.
But then I got to thinking about Hazuki Dojo.

Place is fucking lame.

Yeah, I'll post there every now and then, but usually there isn't anything worth posting, since the place is so fucking dead. I wasn't a part of the original HD, so I don't know how it was back in the day, but the new one is quiet and boring. You're lucky if you see a new post once every couple weeks, and even if there is, it's usually something boring, like shit about the PSP Go or something (no offense Ryu). Not to mention that its returning group of member who were there with the original HD are oddly boring, and are touchy about stupid insignificant shit.
It's a depressing, ugly ghost town of a forum.
And you know what? I don't want that shit to happen to our Dojo. Our Dojo is the cool one. Our Dojo is the entertaining one.
And I have this strange fear that once SD starts fresh again, many of our main contributing members might not come back, resulting in a mirror HD forum.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm trying to say with all this. Maybe it's some kind of plea to get all you bastards to come back once everything starts over. Some people around here have been saying for a while now that we're a dying forum. But the way I see it, just because our little community hasn't necessarily been growing doesn't mean it's dying. Seems like it's stayed pretty consistent for a long time now, and I gotta say, I'm cool with that.
Whatever the case, I just want it to be know:

I like you guys.

And as long as most of you stick around, hell, I could keep coming here for years to come.
So yeah. Stick around, fuckers. I'll be kind of bored if you don't.

I won't lie,the original HD was more fun for me than the new one and had an atmosphere,more relaxing but we had fun but it ended so sudden when the bills were not paid and we lost one admin to health issues then a few months later a brand new one and all our history from the old one was gone..it looks like the old one but it reminds me of the Harbour from way back.

Dead. I will still post just because I have some friends there.

I really hate to lose the history we have here at SD,new forums..well we need that. New host ok cool but to lose the data just really sucks.
Kenny mentioned in another topic he is pretty much being himself,maybe that is why I like this community so much.
I am here pretty much who I am offline while most forums you have to hold a lot more back.

Yes yes internetz is seriouz biz but really when I accidentally found this place back in 2003 I honestly didn't plan to post here much and wanted to post at some NFL forums ..turned out quite the opposite just because this place was much more interesting and words like "suck" were not blocked by the filters.

This whole community from all forums came here for the love of a video game but even after we grew tired of talking about we stayed.

You guys do know that the server change is going to coincide with the announcement of Shenmue III. Also it will be revealed that Kiyuu is Yu Suzuki, i think that will keep the forums alive when we move.

I have to agree with you both as this is the best online community I've ever found. The dickheads topic really showed how cool people are and really don't give a fuck. We all just come on here to get our daily nerd talk and to have a chuckle or two.

But I hope when we move no one decide's not to sign up. I'm looking at you Animegamer. As it is we have two community's the people that talk about any fucking thing. And there are those who stick to Shenmue forums. I do hope they would come out of there and talk to us more on general stuff.

I'm not one for all this you helped me crap but the thing about my mate's sister is not shit I can talk about in the real world. But we can also come on here just to talk games, films and any random crap.

Hopefully when we move we can get the semi-regular's like Martin to stick around more as most of them are great members that we don't see much of.

We should change the theme when it reopens. I don't identify with Shenmue as much as being around a group of people with common interests in geekdom. Plus being a close nit bunch is cool but bringing in more people would be better, I think.

I'm sure some of the same people will come back. That is, if the new place is opened up in time before the shut down so that everyone can sign up in time.

Yeah, I don't think the theme is really for Shenmue anymore. Just make it more general for nerds (sure, keep the Shenmue forums though if you want). Maybe that way we'll get more members? I still like Shenmue, sure, but I don't think anybody really talks about it anymore on here. Shenmue is sorta obscure nowadays anyway.
