Surprised this hasn't been discussed on here yet. Tony Scott jumped off a bridge last night and is no longer with us. According to police he left a note in his car and then took the leap.

Sucks. He was a very good film director. He didn't make masterpieces or anything, but he did make solid, entertaining movies.

What an unbelievable drag. :(

This guy has produced and directed so many great pictures. Makes you wonder why he'd take his own life after having so much success. RIP.

Well that was totally unexpected. Who would've thought this was going to happen?

Latest report is saying he was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer.

Yeah, that looks to be the most likely reason. He wanted his life to end on his own terms and not succumb to cancer.

It takes alot of courage to take your own life. I Couldn't imagine making the choice of letting your illness take you slowly and painfully, or ending it early while you still had the ability to do so.

Sorry don't agree with that. 9/10 that's a cowards way out.

In this case i suppose he had the choice, slow and painful or get it over with quickly.

The only way I could judge is if I were in the same situation.

I always think of the people that jumped from the World Trade Center because they were trapped but didn't want to burn to death or suffocate on smoke and chose a different way to end their life.

didn't they jump with plastic bags hoping it would somehow serve as a parachute?

Maybe one or two, not the majority. Even then you know your going to die and the bag is just false hope.

Some might have? but most knew they would die.

As i said in some cases i can under stand but most of the time i see it as cowardice rather than courage.
