Shenmue Dojo

Hey Dojo! I can't be more excited about Shenmue 3, but I'd like to know what everyone does in their spare time. As long as I can remember, I've enjoyed collecting coins. About ten years ago, I became interested in firearms and astronomy, with the Orion SkyQuest XT8 being my main squeeze. Then, about two years ago, I acquired my amateur radio license, though I only listen and don't participate in discussion. Now, it's flying and building quadcopters. I hope everyone here has been well!

I've always wanted to get into shortwave radios. How hard is it to pick up the hobby?

Not hard at all. Get the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual or just find a website that lets you do a practice quiz from the test question bank. It's awesome getting SSTV transmissions from the ISS, which you don't even need a license to do!

I'm interested in reading and writing -- which is what I hope to do eventually as a living. Also really into music, specifically pop (like Elliott Smith, Big Star, Kirsty MacColl, ABBA, Queen, Karen Carpenter) and casually write some pop music of my own. I have other, non-pop influences such as: Nick Drake, The Pogues, and Sandy Denny as well. I also have recently gotten into speedrunning but am mostly only interested in Super Metroid and Link to the Past. Also I'm currently learning German and am attempting to read Kafka's "Die Verwandlung" in German... but reading a book in a foreign language is an especially daunting task for me, but I'm trying.

Love cooking, Photography (both film and digital), reading, games, really listening to music.

My dad recently let me borrow his Minolta XG 9, but it's just sitting in a closet. I really need to get off my ass and take some shots with it. Got some film in the fridge that needs to get used.

I got it back last week from the body shop. had every dent and ding smoothed over and the entire car repainted. black roof. it's 100% stock with only 86k miles. heavy breathing

I've always been into my literature, and did an English Lit degree at uni. Also a bit of an aspiring writer, and currently in process of getting a poetry collection published as an eBook I'll be sure to post a link here when it's available, one of the poems was partly Shenmue-inspired, in fact
