The Leia thing doesn't make sense because no human being can live in space without breathing, etc.

That tells me that:

- The Force makes you invincible in space
- The Force takes over when you cannot breathe
- The Force stops the beyond freezing temperature of space, from instantly turning you into an icicle (or whatever)

I think that's the problem most fans have with that scene; if anyone can cheat death, then why did Yoda die, Obi-Wan allow himself to get killed, etc.?

From my POV, it contradicts a whole bunch of the rest of the series...

But that's just me.

Carry on.

I'm in a minority.

As a Star Wars fan who actually likes Star Wars (shocking, I know), I ate up the original trilogy, prequels and EU but upon seeing TFA I absolutely hated it. Aside from a few aspects I liked (a female lead, Kylo) the whole thing felt incredibly safe and uninspired. I got the impression that this sequel trilogy was going to be a soft remake of the original trilogy while heavily placating the portion of the fan-base that can't quite seem to accept anything outside of IV-VI.

But then I saw TLJ and I absolutely loved it. Rian's bold take on this film saved this new trilogy for me and I cannot get enough of this sequel trilogy now.

Re: the Leia scene-

I have no problem with Rian Johnson's explanation...I just thought the execution itself was a bit cheesy. The overly dramatic music; the grandiose nature of Leia's pose as she's flying through space; etc. It could and should have been less cringy, IMO.

To be honest, I actually thought the moments that immediately preceded the scene were brilliant (e.g. Kylo's hesitation; the abruptness of the explosion), and basically could have worked as a tragic farewell to the character.

I'm in a similar camp (not a fan of the prequels for the most part) I enjoyed the same aspects of TFA as you but ultimately felt like it was going to be quite a cyclical trilogy. I'm pretty sure the fan backlash will force (no pun intended) the next film to be RotJ: The Next Generation and whilst I find that a bit disappointing I will always feel pretty happy that I got TLJ.

Yoda didn't die in space. The force is what exists in all living beings and I would assume if a living being dies from natural causes then they will not be able to harness the force to live longer.

But yea, I thought that scene was stupid too.

ANywho, I liked TLJ. Less than I liked VII, but it wasn't a bad movie.

I loved TLJ. I even liked the casino sequence that everyone seems to hate. I felt it fit nicely into the whole "heroes aren't perfect" theme that the entire movie seemed to be based on.

Only thing I didn't like was Leia's "space Mary Poppins" bit. Not the concept of it, just didn't like it visually.

As mentioned, I'm not a die-hard, but I don't ever recall Yoda being in Space; when was that?

Even if he was, he's an alien, not a human lol, so I guess that would take care of that!

Thanks for your explanation. Humans can survive for a little while in freezing vacuum, but Leia was unconscious, so fair point.

I see. So, for you it was the cheese factor.

The CGI was not convincing.

I think I meant Luke when I said Yoda. I remember reading about him using the force to stay conscious in the vacuum of space.
