Good to know I'm in the same boat as somebody, dude.

Anyway, I'm not sure what date it is when Ryo arrives in Hong Kong.

I'm doing it day-by-day. I played for a few minutes on Dec. 3rd, but didn't advance the plot or anything. I didn't even leave the house!

Shenmue II would be fun to do day-by-day as well. I can't transfer saves since I can't get my DC online, but I could just start on the default date, like most people would. Shenmue 2 starts on the 23rd of February, by the way.

I've just started new game today, as I couldn't play it on Nov. 29th.
I saw the opening scene and saved it when Ryo got up in the morning
of Dec. 3rd. I'll continue the game tomorrow to play day by day. :)

It's always impressive to see LanDi's gorgeous robe, but I realized it's
unrealistic to have snow or thunder in November in Yokosuka. :P

BTW, I wonder what's wrong with the spellchecker here... I do need it! :?

I'll be sure to continue my game over my month long winter break. (I think it's a month long.) Anyways that's in about two weeks. That is if I can pull myself away from Halo 2 long enough to continue Shenmue. I also want to continue my Final Fantasy X save. I might also have a job during that time. ick >_< I hope I can make enough time for Shenmue during that time.

Kiyuu, when is it normal for it to start snowing? I can't imagine much later than Nov. 29th. I think I'll put on the real Yokosuka weather to see.

Despite being a little cliche, the opening scene was still well done. Lan Di was very cool, to say the least. I noticed when I was playing it on the 29th that most people ( I didn't, anyway ) probably didn't think much of Lan Di at first. He seemed like your typical evil villian. But by the time you beat Shenmue 2, he's a totally different person, it seems. Even though he doesn't say anything, he doesn't seem quite as brutal and you really start to question what he is planning to do. Hopefully we'll see Shenmue 3 and find out more about the mysteries of Lan Di.

Lan Di's an interesting dude. It really makes "Shenmue" an interesting game when you examine all the time they put into creating backstories for almost every single character and including so many unique personalities within the game (Americans, Japanese, and even Iranians).

I'm looking forward to playing an actual day tomorrow. :)

I can't wait either, KPrime. It's been 5 months at least since I last completed Shenmue, and almost 4 months since I've actually played (damn, where did all that time go!) it, so I'm excited for tomorrow.

It rarely snows in real Yokosuka. Several times a year at the most. They have
really mild climate there. According to the real weather data in a guide, it looks
they had snow relatively many times during that winter of 1986 - 7.

Still, the first time they had snow was Dec. 27 - 28. Then, twice in Jan., twice
in Feb. and three times in March. Each time, it never snowed all day. :)

I guess they decided to add the snow to represent more the time of year, then. Thanks for the info, Kiyuu.

It always amazed how Ryo could spend his whole day outside and not showing any signs of being cold. My hands would be so numb! Even though in reality it doesn't snow much, it still has to pretty cold. I guess Ryo will do anything for revenge :)

I don't worry about my Ryo very much as he's always running. :P
But, I do worry about Nozomi. She must feel freezing with those bare legs
when she meets Ryo in Sakuragaoka Park on the snowy night! ;)

He's probably half-swedish. ;)

Here in sweden it has already snowed....it started in november, but it's gone now though...I hope it will come back for christmas eve.

Speaking of snow... One thing I have noticed is that the christmas celebration in japan seems to be very short (in shenmue it seems to start just a couple of days before christmas eve), here in sweden we start to decorate our house already in november (some christmas events, like christmas markets, starts already in october), and christmas last to january 20.

Probably it's because christmas is "imported" by then japanese? Christmas simply hasn't grown very big in japan yet, am I right? Christmas is very big in europe, it's my favourite tradition. :)

And don't forget what day it is today! It's december 3! We must play shenmue today!

I watched the opening sequence yesterday as I wasn't able to on Nov 29. I'll be starting the game proper today ^^
Watching the opening again showed me just how well the graphics hold up today. And makes me even more annoyed by the stupid decision to put the cutscenes in letterbox mode in Shenmue II...
I guess it's rather convenient for the black suits that they apparently brought a shovel to get the Dragon Mirror :P

I'll be beginning my journey today. Don't expect any little updates from me, though. Just know that I'm entering the Shen Land, and I'll have teary eyes of joy the entire time. Bye, "real" world.

I watched the opening scene on the 29th and saved after Ryo's nightmare, I'll be playing from there later today.

Not to mention when she stands outside Aida Florist all day, come sleet or hail ;)
