Quick question: If Ryo Hazuki were to enroll in college, what would you think his major would be?

Personally, I would say Poli-Sci.

This is a Shenmue 2 thought but hey, whatever, I'll share it.

I used to have a fear of Chai as a little kid (so maybe I was hallucinating or something) but I could have sworn that on one of my first few playthroughs of Shenmue 2 I saw him near the very start of the game, peering down from a window in Aberdeen (I specifically remember someone bald with purple-ish clothes). This was at night during the chase for Wong after he steals Ryo's bag in the building adjacent to the fishing shop.

I always worked it into my brain that Chai would pop up at some point in Shenmue 2, so much so that I would cower and cover my eyes at the start of cut scenes where the camera angle would pan out to a high point. :(

Masaya Matsukaze, the VA of Ryo, and Lisle Wilkerson, the VA of Xiuying, were invited to the FanimeCon held in San Jose, CA.

Edit: Someone else has subsequently posted this as a thread in the Community Projects section (?) which has then been moved into this section and begun receiving replies. So go there for discussion.

The former editor for the UK Official Dreamcast Magazine is doing an AMA on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/dreamcast/comm ... n_the_day/

Someone asked him about his favourite game:

Favourite game... I think I'd have to say Shenmue just because it was so different to everything else before it, and so immersive. I got completely lost in its world. Hated writing about it though because I had to write something like 10 pages and I put it off and put it off so I could play it more, and was eventually so late filing my review that I had to wake up at 6am one morning and write the whole thing, which was thousands and thousands of words, before work.

I asked him about Yu Suzuki and Shenmue, this was his response:

Yes, I met Yu Suzuki a few times. He was awesome. Super-chilled, really cool. I interviewed him in Tokyo when he was first revealing Shenmue and he spent ages explaining it to me while chain-smoking cigarettes. I've still got a Shenmue promotional booklet that I got him to sign that day. I remember asking him whether he was going to do a new Outrun at any point and he said he was talking to Ferrari about getting their official cars in it because he was a massive Ferrari fan. It was then another year or so later that he did that serious Ferrari simulator, and many years more before the new Outrun came out - it had real Ferraris in it too, didn't it? Anyhow, he was cool.

It's nice they're doing Shenmue 3. He obviously had such grand plans for the series at the start that it would be a great shame if they never got to complete it, especially since so many people are into it now. Personally, despite loving Shenmue I hardly played Shenmue 2. I remember getting a boat to somewhere, and there being a city and never really getting much further than that. I didn't review it and didn't have the spare time to invest in it, so I sort of fell out of sync with Shenmue as a whole. Maybe if Shenmue 3 turns out to be great I'll go back and do Shenmue 2 so I can join in.

In the foreseeable future, I would like to see the Shenmue franchise combine with the Tony Hawk's: Pro Skater franchise and become "Shenmue: Pro Skater."

The goal of the game could be to successfully perform and combine aerials, flips, and grinds, with successful executions adding to the player's score.

In "Career Mode", the player could have five technique scrolls(i.e. objectives) to obtain that would allow him master new skateboard tricks.

I think we've all been assuming for a while that those are the licensing issues Sega's been trying to nail down before recommitting to the series.
