no alimn, im just saying having Shenmue.com link to the best fan site with the option for SEGA to take back the domain whenever they want would have prevented a lot of confusion. At least if it was LanDC who owned it, we could trust him.

Basically LanDC got suspicious and managed to bust Sakuragaoka's ass and Sega got the domain back, anyway's that's what i can remember of it although if anyone has some more insight or a better memory to correct me then i'm not gonna argue it.

Yes just what you said. I am unaware if SEGA had to buy out the domain or if they did get it for free but it was basically like that i think. Although the way that SEGA neglected the domain I am not even sure if Sakuragaokas move wasn't even better. They don't even mention Shenmue Gai on the site, it's a shame. I once tried to rebuild the webstructure of the Shenmue.com passport section but too much was already lost, it was futile.

I've also just read this entire thread, and it's moved me to make my first post.

I was wondering, whatever happened with the attempt at gathering all Goodies files together (see page 31)? Have all of the Passport elements now been collected & preserved somewhere, or are there still parts that are lost or only viewable via the now-defunct site?

I saw this thread started recently, but I get the impression that's an incomplete list of Passport files?
