I know everyone likes shenmue, but what do you shenmue fans like about the game. Tell me what you like about the game.

As for the topic, I guess the thing I like most about Shenmue, is the sheer obscurity and insane attention to detail of it. I mean, they could have made it some standard game where you just go about avenging your fathers death, but no.

Instead, we get this amazing adventure, which has had positively WORRYING amounts of time and effort put into it. I mean, were they on fucking crack when they made this game or what? Capsule toys? Arcades? Usable telephones? Being able to knock on doors, searching drawing and cupbaords, and a million other little things that serve no purpose, and no-one cares about, but SEGA put them in there anyway.

I guess in a nutshell, the thing I like most about Shenmue, is that I can spend hours just exploring everywhere and taking in all the details, and that everytime I do (even after all these years), I always notice something new.

P.S. Don't worry about Clit, he likes to make fun of new people, and exorcise his superiority over them. It's a complex he seems to have.

As you said, shenmue is a very inovative game because of its F.R.E.E style of gameplay. You can go almost anywhere and do almost anything,(except get with nazomi). But my favourite thing about shenmue is that is has one of the most epic tales ever told in a movie or video game. The fact that is spands over 2(and hopefully 3) installments just makes the whole eperience 10 times better. One more thing and its a little off topic but I hate halo. The story is shit and I didnt feel a sense of accomplishment when I beat the game

I understand what you are saying the only reason i put this post is because theres nothing really to talk about, but i thought the shenmue fans had there own reasons of likeing the game thats why i wrote this topic; everytime i play shenmue or shenmue 2 i seem to learn new stuff i never learn before, because instead of taking the same route in the game as you do all the time you change up, and learn new expeirences do anyone agree?

A little off topic? Man, that was totally out of left fucking field.

I'll just reiterate what I wrote in a similar topic a couple of weeks ago. The action is what hooked me. I like how the fighting moves are genuine and not as exagerrated as dedicated fighting games. I also enjoy experiencing the cultural aspect, and the fact that the gameplay doesn't feel rushed.

I'll second that. The awsome setting (1980's far east, you don't get cooler than that), the culture, and the slow-burning gameplay. Fantastic.

Shenmue is a laid back game. It's a game where I can drink a couple beers while playing and just dive right into another world and watch the story unfold. I loved 80's action movie flicks and this game is exacty that. It gave me a chance to be the main character in my favorite movie genres. The way the story unfolded, just kept my on the edge of my seat the whole time.

You know it's good story telling when working in a videogame(forklift) can still keep you interested and wanting to continue playing. I admit though that after the 3rd day of the harbor job I was starting to lose paitents.

I just like walking and analyzing a world that only selected Shenmue gamers can explore, and explore it in high detail, finding the littlest details.

For some reason i like almost everything about shenmue, but mainly the Adventure, the high detail, and the fighting.

what place do you all like in the shenmue series Japan, Hong Kong, Kowloon, Gulin?
