Ryo's mother

I have not encountered anything in the game yet that mentions Ryo's mother. What do we know about her?

If it's revealed in Shenmue 2 please do not spoil!

All we really know is that she died when Ryo was three years old. There's no need to use spoiler tags, as this is (almost) common knowledge.

Ryo's mother is mentioned only in his official profile as you see here:

You won't find anything even in Shenmue II. So, don't worry about any spoiler.

Me and another Dojo member were talking about this,what if Niao Sun is ryo's mother?.Its possible,with the comb from china in the basement and every thing....it would be a cool Twist

In the altar you can see her ("tablet"?), but it's voluntary too dark to see.
I am agree that she was chinese,though.
Shenua was maybe like her.

Ah, yes. There're two relatively new memorial tablets in their family altar like this.

The big one in the center is Iwao's and the next smaller one is Ryo's mother's, I believe.
Unfortunately, the letters on the tablets are too blurry to read, except some top letters.
I can see only "father" and "Iwao" on the big one, and "mother" on the smaller one. :(

Reckon Lan could rip the textures to give you the best chance of translating them? It's got to hold some interesting info, at least. We really know fuck all about Ryo's mum. Except that she was a whore.

I got the textures from LanDC like these:

Iwao's

Mother's

Though it enabled me to read some more letters, it didn't reveal anything really significant.
The bottom two for Iwao is a typical title that is given to a male deceased. And, the bottom
one for mother must be a part of a title that is given to a female deceased. One interesting
thing is two of the letters for Iwao could be "kill" and "dragon," but it's not clear enough.
Besides, the letter in between is unreadable. They might mean like "killed by a dragon?" :?

Anyway, it seems the developers weren't serious about these writings on the tablets,
since no real "posthumous Buddhist names" should be headed by "father" or "mother." ;)
