I've been wondering about that bandage thing too. I thought that it was symbolic of the weight of hatred he feels towards Longsun Zhao. You probably've noticed that Lan Di has a scar in the same place perhaps indicating that he hates Hazuki-sensei. Maybe I'm reading too much into this.
