Wow, never seen that trailer before. You'd be right about the music, I believe those are the versions done on a synthesizer that are programmed in to be played again through the Dreamcast's soundchip at a lower quality.

Interesting to note they're using Ryo's original Shenmue model rather than the refined one from II.

I swear, and not even as a fanboy, I absolutely cannot wait until the very near future when this piece of shit wannabe gaming sudo-celebrity gets absolutely proven the fuck wrong when he sees what Shenmue 3 really looks like. Let them all be smug and laugh over the Kickstarter concept video. He, and all the haters have absolutely no idea what's about to drop, and punch them clean on the jaw.

ahahahahahaa

The musics sound slightly different than the original ones. Could they be the uncompressed versions we'll heard in the hypothetical remaster?

I haven't seen this trailer (with hard rock music) either:

Actually, there are two versions of the hard rock trailer. The Shenmue Dojo channel owns one of them. The sequences are the same but the music is again slightly different.

Are those the European Dreamcast release trailers of Shenmue II?

I don't know for the hard rock trailers but I strongly believe that the first one is the trailer seen during the Sega Game Jam in April 2001 at the Zepp Tokyo. It was a show intended for the Sega fans since Sega didn't participate in the TGS two weeks before and it was the place of the Shenmue II premiere.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a fuck about all these Kickstarter updates?

0:18 - lol - it looks like Greg Moore originally wore a vest composed of leather buckles. it doesn't look right at all.

Reminds me of the videos wude used to make. It feels like the community is missing something since he's gone.

Watching the project berkley video I noticed that they originally made kowloon walled city much more authentic to the real thing. Has Suzuki ever explained why they made such a drastic design change? If not it would be an interesting question to ask him next time someone is given the chance.

It may be a concession to difficulty some players have to controlling Ryo, IMO. Kowloon looked claustrophobic as hell.

As stated by Spaghetti, it's likely they altered it to be more open so it played fluidly. Can you imagine the amount of congestion, troublesome navigation, and restrictive movement in those narrow streets, especially with Shenmue II's pedestrian A.I.? They did a great job of retaining the enclosed feeling of the city, almost like it's one of those huge outdoor prisons run by the prisoners themselves.
