Shenmue VHS Promo video - now subtitled!

I've added English subtitles to a quirky short VHS video that promoted the upcoming release of Shenmue. Requested by BlueMue.

It's voiced in Japanese by none other than that lovable rogue Chai. Interesting choice of salesman...

Edit: presumably the line about "no movies" is referring to the fact it doesn't use pre-rendered FMV clips (unlike many of the games back then).

The only time Chai sounds a little sane, lol.
Awesome seeing this with subs even if its short.

I also can't help but notice that a lot of these prototype videos have higher quality sound effects even on a VHS source like this, like some sound effects sound clearer... i wonder if this is uncompressed audio data they were using for the promotion.

I would imagine so; they did the same with Shenmue: The Movie, did they not? I was always shocked by the difference in audio quality between the game and the movie. It was weird, but still cool to hear it presented in that way.

I love watching Shenmue through typical VHS quality.
