Save not loading

Hi all,

I think this has been posted before but any topic about it seems to have tailed off or been resolved in a manner that doesn't resolve my issue.

I'm playing Shenmue on NullDc (1.0.4r389, the latest version released I believe (even though it was what... 4 years ago?)) and whilst in the same session, it looked like everything was working - I was able to save, and use the Resume feature as well. I was able to soft reset the game (all 4 face buttons & start) and use the resume feature with no issue. However, when I come back to it the next day and try to play, it can't load the resume data, nor can it load my normal save data either.

I'm playing with the following settings:
PAL dump of the game
NTSC/USA region (yeah I know, mismatch of regions but it worked and I never even thought about it)
60Hz mode
Profiler enabled

I tried switching the emulator to PAL/EUR settings but that didn't help either.

Has anyone had the same issue and been able to fix it?

You should've read what the game tells you when you the Resume feature.
The Resume feature is only for use when you have to quit the game in a pinch.
A Resume File can only be load ONCE. It will be DELETED just after it has be load.

You cannot just save everywhere (unlike Shenmue II). You have to go back to Ryo's room to properly save the game.

Ok, I get that. But I still have the issue with the main save not loading, either.

Apologies, I should probably give some more info about the error... this is what comes up:

If you're playing the PAL version set nullDC on PAL too. It shouldn't normally affect the saves but they are in fact incompatible between PAL and NTSC. I would also suggest you create a new VMU file.

I ended up downloading Demul to give it a try and used vmsbrowser (from Chankast) to copy my save over to its memory card file... and so far so good.
