This thread really makes me feel that a campaign to get a Shenmue HD release would benefit from people knowing how amazing these images look. I bet a lot of Shenmue fans would never have even seen Shenmue images in 1080i before, and be teased with what the game could look like.

People that even don't like shenmue will see such of incredible graphics that they will love it just for that

Nope, original textures, but since I rendered it in Vue 6 infinite I took the freedom to adjust the shininess/reflection values of some materials. Also rendered with a radiosity atmosphere to improve lighting a bit.
