Looks like its not on the list yet.. is there a good guide/comparison of S2x on xbox vs 360 models?
I don't have an Xbox anymore and really want to play S2x again, but hear the sound glitch and shadows on 360 are really bad, though someone recommended it on 360 elite the other day- is there a thread I overlooked?

Well, there's hardly anything you could call list yet...

I have made videos putting all ways to play Shenmue II next to each other. It greatly shows how different the game looks on Xbox vs 360. It loses all post processing in emulation but that actually makes it look closer to the DC overall.

Oh and if you do plan on getting a 360 forget about the old crap Elite. Go for an S or E model.
Smaller, more efficient and much more quiet.

Though I'd like it coz I prefer the Xbox One controller it's highly doubtful it'd be available. They'd have to put it on the marketplace, which it never has been in any capacity (other than the emulation configuration required to play it)

As for Shenmue II vs Shenmue II-X I defo prefer the latter simply because of the dub. I know people like it to be "authentic", but doesn't everyone speak Japanese... in Hong Kong? That said, obviously it fucks anyone up who wants to use their Shenmue I save file, and I always felt the disc-swapping thing was brilliant and sadly missed in the Xbox version (seriously, they could've just had an "end of chapter" thing instead of "end of disc")

Thank you so much!
Its so weird without shadows on 360!
And the Xbox glow haha, is really nostalgic for me- so bad yet soo nostalgic!
Demul is great.

Demul is based on DC and doesn't include the Xb extras right?

I still have Japanese DC version, and played Xb version,
think I'll get a 360 for the English/censored version/extras, and maybe an Xbox later too, just for the goofy nostalgic glow ;)

If it does go compatible on XbOne, how do you expect it to be- same as 360? Improvements? Sound glitches fixed? Shadows?
Sure would be good to get.. though still need 1+2 to support 3..

I guess it would be fixed. Unlike original Xbox emulation on 360, 360 games tend to perform better on Xbox One. So I'm hoping the same for original Xbox games.

Why play it on Xbox 1 when we have the original?

It not so much about us playing it but making the game more accessible for others. Just having an opportunity to play it on current gen hardware will give people more motivation to try it out.
And if it really does land on the marketplace for sale then wow...

Bump, wondering if anyone heard any news about this.

On the official site:

https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/bac ... patibility

If you click on "original Xbox games", a little box pops up saying "coming fall 2017".

That's now, could a digital version of S2X be coming to Xbox market? Would be good good good, still need S1 tho

They haven't made any additional announcements since the first one at E3. The only title they've announced at this point is Crimson Skies. I'm hyped about that so I've been impatiently waiting! As of now it's not even available in the Xbox Live Insider program. So it's starting to look like it'll be late fall before they roll it out.

Useful article.

The games are:

Bloodrayne 2
Crimson Skies
Dead to Rights
Fusion Frenzy
Grabbed by the Ghoulies
King of Fighters: Neowave
Ninja Gaiden Black
Pirates!
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Psychonauts
Red Faction II
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

So no Shenmue II.

Do Microsoft still own Shenmue 2? Is there at least any possibility it could be added to backwards compat? that would be very nice if we could play it on current gen. I really like that the Xbox One can play a ton of 360 games and even Original Xbox games now. It does backwards compatibility better than PS4.

A game in such high demand that in a subsequent title the developers included a giant trash can full of unsold copies.
