is bailu village real?

Postby PILMAN » Sun Feb 01, 2004 8:26 pm

I know guilun(sp?) is real but how about bailu village? Or do you think it's made up? I checked on google about anything relating to it, nothing found though.

Maybe check this link.http://www.confluence.org/region.php?id=1365

It gives brief mentions of bailu.

I found this about a "white Deer Cave"http://english.ctrip.com/Destinations/Sight.asp?Resource=8630

im pretty sure all teh locations in teh shenmue story (future games too) are based on real places (yu said so himself) and while many places keep thier real names like guilin some for some reason are slightly altered for the game! (yokosuka is real but there isnt a yamanose there, althog i remember there being a place near by with a very similar name [i printed of maps years ago of yokosuka using encarta world atlas :P]

That is the current day Kowloon, shenmuefan14. The Kowloon in Shenmue II is the 'Kowloon Walled City'.

Ultimate necro posting activated, but in my defense the subject of Bailu Village being real is new again since it seems to be the only place you can go in Shenmue 3 (laaaaammmmeeee).

I thought this was a new thread at first, but when I decided to reply to this comment I realized something funny. See I was actually living in Yokosuka Japan when you made this comment. I lived there 3 years while in the Navy. I had a house right about where Yamanose is in the game. Yamanose just means "mountain side" so I'm guessing he just made it a generic name for the area around Ryo's house, which is up against the hills.

Some parts of real Yokosuka looked like the game. Generic Japanese styles of course. But I actually found places outside of Yokosuka, like in the neighborhoods around Kamakura, their streets and houses are rather interesting and unique and seem to be replicated exactly in Shenmue whereas local Yokosuka houses don't seem to be there. And all houses I'm talking about predate the 80s so it's not like it's changed.
