What exactly is the significance of Jianmin not knowing about Jujitsu?

I agree with this since Jujitsu is a Japanese art and not a Chinese art. Jianmin seems to be very old school so that's why he doesn't know it.

I can guarantee you China doesn't get many Japanese visitors in general even now, nevermind back in 87, so It's not very surprising for even a master martial artist not to have heard of such.

No particular significance. It's humour from the storyteller to express in a funny way the difference of perception of a self-praised national treasure above the boundaries, a self-deprecation somehow. Because yeah, Jujitsu is well known as a prestigious martial art over the world.

There isn't any significance. Also, as I mentioned in an earlier topic, Ryo doesn't exactly practice Ju jitsu. A lot of his moves come from various styles and sources of inspiration. That's why Jianmin thinks he uses so many different styles. Because Ryo doesn't use one strict style, but a modification. The "never heard of it" is just a joke.
