They DID use the same voice actor as Fuku-san. Can't remember his name but he did Gui-zhang's voice as well.

Eric Kelso. which i think is a very telented voice actor, to pull off fuku-san, gui zhang and ren without much notice at all!! there is NO way to tell fuku-san and guizhang had the same actor, but since ren has kinda both of their styles in voice, you can tell. shenmue has some very talented voice actors, like Paul lucas for instance, does lan di, Chai, and SAM from shenmue 2! none of those sound ANYTHING alike. thats just a few, there are most likely more.

I had no idea that Fuku-San and GuiZhang were done by the same person. They sound SO different.

ren is a quiet but jokey character who has a serious side, the english voice plays him like a loud idoit who just runs around and shouts

Well, from the way Ryo is always telling him to shut the hell up and the way Ren actually acts in the story, he seems more like a loud, jokey jackass who has a serious side (which I kind of enjoy, actually) rather than a "quiet, jokey character with a serious side". It has nothing to do with the voice itself. It's all in the script.
