My one question to Suzuki...

Earlier in the year, he revealed that Sega may let him make Shenmue III. What is the status between you and Sega regarding the future of Shenmue III?

Ask Yu Suzuki. Can we expect a Shenmue III on this Generation of consoles?

Already in! Also gonna directly ask him about the beta images in a temple with an old man and some people working out, if it was let out of Sh2, where was that supposed to be?

That's a very important question I wanted to ask, is YSNET capable of co-producing a Shenmue game with SEGA or is it SEGA alone in the task, if SEGA wants to make a Shenmue game that he doesn't endorse (e.g. a pachislot game) does he have the power to freeze developement?

Also in! I'll try to ask as much about Shenmue 3 as possible. Remember, I am making a serious interview, but I am also a huge fan (I am holding my Shahua telephone strap tight as I write this O:) ) so I am gonna take as much as possible out of Suzuki-san, But if at this time and age he's never answered properly to any of this questions, I highly doubt we are gonna get the answers we seek. :-k

November the 26th or 27th, during the Toulouse Game Show. This week I gotta get the final timeslot, all I know is that I've been given 1 hour. Once it's done, if it turns out well I'll upload it a couple of days later with minor cosmetic edits but full in content at www.videoxoc.com both with Spanish and English subtitles, if I only get a few things right, I'll edit and upload the highlights and the rest will go to the Yu Suzuki Special Video that will be uploaded on January 2012, for the official opening of videoxoc.com (it's still in beta mode).

In any case I'll promote it as much as I can here at the forums. I hope you guys like the interview, it will not only focus on the concerns about the future of Shenmue (even if that's a crucial point of the interview) but also on his aspirations and sensibilities as an artist, something different than the regular interview, so we'll see how well it goes with Suzuki-san!

Shenmue Dojo doesn't get many front page updates. Let Yama (Owner) know of this interview and he'll update the news on the front page.

I seem to remember reading they also had problems getting it to work properly? Think it was due to the boat size?

Thank you El clown! You are doing a great service for all the Shenmue fans world wide. We've had a real quiet period of late, and now is time we need to show real determination and grit. We will get Sega to yield to us evetually!

Dark snipers point is probably the most important, making sure to bring up what Suzuki-san said about Sega might let him make it. But if I was to add other questions to ask him, I would suggest:

Shenmue is a really beautiful game with an incredible amount of love and craftmanship put into it, the likes of which are still rare today in videogames, however do you consider it to be a genuine work of art as well as just a game?

Shenmue's narrative appears to be just as much about Ryo's maturing from boy into man as it is anout getting revenge on Lan-Di, this is particularly notable in the changes from shenmue 1 to Shenmue 2, where Ryo is longer with the comfort of his home and Ine-san, his curfew and childhood friends, and thrust into a vastly different and dangerous landscape where he must fend for himself, be mature and make new friends. The player really feels this development. Was this completely intentional? Is Shenmue at heart, a coming of age tale?

The two games display a staggering amount of appreciation and love for Chinese culture and martial arts. In fact Shenmue 2 is the only game to date to actually feature a Chen style Tai ji quan practitioner as a character, which is actually quite a remarkable achievement and indicative of your interest in Chinese culture. What initially sparked this keen interest in China?

The Shenmue games in some ways felt as though you wanted to do so much with them in terms of interaction, but in certain areas couldn't quite fit it all in. For example there never felt as much to do and see with the "FREE" system as there could have been. Do you wish you could have put more interactivity into Shenmue? Or do you feel you got the balance right?

I know you won't be able to ask all of these, but even just one would be very much appreciated!

Thank you for these wonderful questions, especially the Chinese Tai Ji practitioner, they are inmediatly on my list! I should start trimming fat and editing the interview soon and I still come up with a couple of questions everyday :???:

I got some questions for him, not about SIII though:

1- What flaws and strengths you see in contemporary videogames ? How good you think this kind of media is becoming an expression medium and not just only entertainment ?

2- If you would make a new full fledged game, would it be Shenmue like or a genre game (racing, fighting, sport, etc.)?

3- What features of now days would you liked to had in the development of Shenmue and what new features would you like to add in Shenmue III ?

Sorry for my bad english.

Show Yu some Shenmue community love !!! and thank you man.

Question 1 and 2 already in my interview, thanks anyway 'cos I am trimming down the questions and priorizing and it helps to know what people wanna hear about!(That's why you all guys are helping me A LOT! THANKS) And Yu answered the third a while ago in the Developer's Conference and the amazing 1up interview a few months ago, still if the conversation turns more into the future of Shenmue I'll try and squeeze more details out of Suzuki-san.

Your English is great BTW ;-) Don't worry we share the same mother language (aunque la pronunciación sea distinta el Castellano es el mismo en España y en Argentina!) and understood you PERFECTLY!

Why not ask him why SEGA constantly stonewall Shenmue-related questions? Has it become company policy? And with a game in a similar situation as Shenmue III (Duke Nukem Forever) getting so much press coverage, has he approached execs about just how much publicity a mere hint of an announcement would make?

Please consider this question before asking anything Shenmue related:

For which game series would you personally like to make a sequel first?

I guess that's the way to know whether or not Shenmue III is high on his priority list or not. If you ask him if he wants to make Shenmue III, I guess you'll get a polite answer like 'yes, if I have the chance'. But if you find out that he wants to continue other franchises first, you definitely know Shenmue III isn't coming. If he answers with Shenmue III, well, that would give us a little bit of hope.
