mue 26 wrote: Haha, I actually think it looks very good, from that picture at least anyway. Ryo- while more east Asian looking than most video game characters- was never super traditionally Japanese looking. He's always had tanned skin and wider eyes.

I always had the impression he was more yellow than brown though

edit: and his face isn't as round as that lol

Yeah, but it's hard to really ascertain the colour of that statue considering the lighting in that pic. As for his face, I swear Ryo's face is even rounder in the game!

He's not very chiseled to be honest.

Ha, its nice to see my name on the front page of the Dojo. Thanks guys.

I would love to own this statue, but I can see it being really expensive. Hopefully, they'll announce more details in the coming week.

ah I see the roundness in the first pic I am remembering him a little different but I still think the statue is a little too round, as for the colour yeah it might just be the lighting

The site has YT channel. Here is a video that looks to be their production facility. Outsourced?

Yeah of course, looks like a Made in China job, as I suspected. That's not to say all things made in China a bad quality, but the reason American companies like this one go to China is because they can get away with paying people less, and as a result the quality always suffers. These Chinese factories also are less regulated and so the quality of the paint materials and such, are usually worse unfortunately. Nearly all "premium" statues of this kind are made this way.

I wouldn't mind if these companies like First for Figures went to China and increased their Carbon footprint in search of greater quality, but that's just not the case, they know the quality suffers as a result and they still do it. I remember putting this argument to Jerry whatever his name is (the guy that runs Pop Culture Shock, a popular producer of such statues) after his statues had a shocking run of bad quality control in regards to manufacturing and packing, his response was something like "yeah well you'd have to pay more if we made it in the US". Mate, all I have to say is eff paying £150 for a cheaply made "premium" statue that's going to arrive damaged and with poor paint job. That's why I want nothing to do with these things.

Don't let my rant put you off though, seriously. This statue might be OK.

Personally, i'll wait for the complete pic of the piece. But like it has been commented, the face looks... well, different.

There is something off with the face/hair, but I don't know why.

I emailed kotaku about the figure when I first saw this topic and it's now up on their website (giving credit to the site of course).Didn't think they would look too much into but who knows, guess they did pay attention.Any publicity is good publicity.
