You think a single video game can really change people's lives? Especially Shenmue where lets face it not alot you can compare to your daily life. Unless evreyone here lives in Japan in the 80's and has recently had their father killed.

Yeah, it probably can. Some peoples lives are lived in the games they play, and there is nothing wrong with that. Let them have their fun.

For me Shenmue was a big part of my life at one point. I played it several times after it came out, and I associate it with a really great part of my life. I think that is why I have such an attachment to it, and why many others do too. Every time I play Shenmue 1 it is a really nostalgic experience(moreso than any other game), and a lot of my every day friends are the same way about many other games. Not everyone is posting on these forums because of the lack of moderation. Quite a few of us still care about the Shenmue series.

So how did it change your life? Sounds just like nostalgia to me.

If I wanted to post at a place with no moderation I would go to 4Chan this place has pretty cool people when you go in the other forum sections and the may reason I am here.

It didn't change my life, craploads of nostalgia is what it gives me. That was my point. It was a big part of my life in that I played a ton of it and loved it. I guess I was unclear. What I was saying earlier about others is that some people might have had their lives changed though, it depends on how one would define their life and what experiences they have had. My life is family, school, and any gaming I can manage to sneak in. For others it might be just gaming, and that does not make them stupid. To each their own.

"Without Remorse", Well said* we all have had things in our lives that changed us that moment and some of us may have not changed at all, but I know one thing for sure is that, I am very grateful for my bestfriend Rob for showing me shenmue when I was only 10 years old because right now I would have never even knew what Shenmue was and i'd probably wouldn't of cared about it, at this present time. Since all those years back, I was addicted to the amazing storyline and graphics etc.. And now, If I was outrageously rich, I would definitely front the money so that the third sequel could be made. Thats How much Shenmue, has affected me in the gaming department of my life

~kind regards ;-)

I hold a lot of nostalgia for Shenmue as well.
Also got me more interested in Japanese culture and wanted to visit Japan ever since.
One day hope I can. The DC and Shenmue was the first game to open my eyes to a broader range of games.
Gaming is huge part of my life so in a way I guess Shenmue did affect my life.
I'm just not obsessed and consumed by it.

I haven't really played video games regularly in long time, but I think Shenmue affected my life more than just about any other game.

It did so in that, like Ryudo, it really gave me a desire to learn about Japanese culture. It also helped me to get interested in martial arts. Finally the morals that are tought throughout the games are things I've incorporated into how i live my life. It's hard to say how much different my life would be if I never came across Shenmue. I can see it not being any different at all, and I can also see it being profoundly different.

Well at the end of the day, we all want the same thing, which is the third sequel. So we should respect every individual's post.
