If cage donated a good amount I would forgive him for being a egotistical narcissistic cunt rag that claims IP took nothing from Shenmue and that he makes garbage. I'd never say another bad thing about him.

Shenmue-Master Sebastien-Abdelhamid ‏@SAbdelhamid just posted this:

Yu Suzuki aimerait également poursuivre l'histoire de Shenmue en Anime ou en Manga. #MAGS

Which translates to this:
Yu Suzuki would also continue the story of Shenmue in Anime or Manga

Lots of good stuff coming out today!

He keeps saying that he could continue the story in all these formats, but you're telling me in the 10 years that he's had, he couldn't have done it already? I'm sure Mangas are much cheaper than making a game. What's the hold-up then?

That's probably exacly how Yu Suzuki feels, which is why we have not seen any Anime or Manga finishing the story. At a certain point, if he wants it to be finished and there are no other alternatives, it may be what we end up getting.

Yu Suzuki wants to pursue Shenmue scenario via Manga and Anime too. #MAGS

So this means, not only games but manga and anime too to be perfectly precise and clear ;)
It is still something that Yu wants, not something that will be done for sure...

That made me anxious for a sec. Even if Shenmue's story will be released as an anime/manga before a Shenmue III game release, I will never going to buy it (unless if 30 years would have passed from now and no Shenmue III yet...)

Game [first (or simultaneously with anime/manga), with all that this implies] or nothing.

Exactly.

There are also surely plenty of sub-plots that could be released via manga/anime to coincide with a concluding video game entry, should there be enough demand. We did see some pretty cool side story comics already. Imagine more in the same vein - stories from the perspective of Gui Zhang, Ren, Joy, or Chiyoumen leaders...lots of stuff to work with.

Have we ever seen a scene in Shenmue that isn't based on Ryo's first-hand experiences? I can't think of any, other than the brief snippet of Lan Di getting jettisoned off to his boat at the end of Shenmue I..which Ryo was envisioning at the time. The games seem to be based on Ryo's perspective alone which leaves a lot of open-ended possibilities. All of which we might have seen if Shenmue was successful enough in the first place :-({|=

If the new game comes out, I just hope it has that same feel as the first two games. There's a certain vibe with the first two games that I can't quite put my finger on that gives it its certain charm. Maybe it's the (bad) voice acting, or how the game looks graphically, or maybe it's how it functions, i unno. Just don't want it to stray too far away from what I enjoyed about the previous two games

True, but both were flashbacks in which a character that Ryo was conversing with in the present was actively remembering. We also saw Ren throw the knife at the map, but that was right after Ryo left.

My point being, that Shenmue III has a lot of diverging storylines now. Rather than bog us down with cutscenes from multiple characters' perspectives, maybe these side stories (i.e. what Ren's up to before we see him again) could be released through another form of media. This might be what Suzuki meant.

Saw this on Neogaf earlier today, I've personally never heard of this news company though.

Crusied around it a bit, didn't find an actual quote of Yu stating what was said on the guy's twitter page.

Delete if old.
