New Yu Suzuki Interview (Shenmue 3, Kickstarter ?)

At this stage, I just want to see something new from Suzuki [that isn't a mobile phone game]. He should go for it. No reason why he can't try and get a low budget new IP funded for PC.

Even if we never do get Shenmue 3, It seems like Yu is wanting to do something new, which is understandable,

But if we do get a Spiritual Successor or not, would any of you be happy with that, the fact that Yu is working on new material?

On one side, I would definitely be a bit disappointed that the 3rd part in his saga wouldn't come out, but I wouldn't let it consume my entire life haha, there's much more to life than that. I would absolutely buy whatever Suzuki creates, just because I think he deserves it. In my opinion he's never created a bad game and I would show my support with my dollars.

I wouldn't be happy with a spiritual successor at all. I think it would actually make me angry instead.
This isn't like Mighty No. 9 where a similar game to the classic Mega Man ones does it's job. It's not about gameplay here. Shenmue III needs to be done because of the story. No other game can take it's place.

I already said that this other project that Yu want's to make is concerning me, when the original interview came up. I've put that aside in the last couple of weeks but seeing it mentioned again, it does come up again. I can't blame him for trying to do something but it really worries me, considering the future of Shenmue.

This is not by a Shenmue500k admin (I think/hope...). In any case, this is illegal. The owner of this said he will take it down.

Please do not launch, support, or encourage any crowdfunding or pledging initiative that has not been officially authorized/endorsed by Sega or Yu Suzuki.

Avoiding this route is fundamental to the success of any genuine Kickstarter-like campaign in the future, despite the allure of wanting to prove there's a demand right now. This will only undermine that demand by presenting lower numbers than a legitimate campaign would raise, and the lack of results will weaken enthusiasm for any legit fundraiser by way of the "once bitten, twice shy" effect.

This concept has been explored many times, and it's for very good reason that it hasn't been done before now. It's not that no one has thought of it, it's that sense has always prevailed before any damage could be done. So please be sensible and discourage any rash activities borne out of frustration.
