Would you mind if other English voice actors don't return?

Honestly, I don't really care. It's been 14 years and some of the original VAs have probably retired or have been pursuing different careers later on. Some of them might also be temporarily blocked by other projects and YS Net sure as heck won't have time to postpone production to wait for a VA.

It's a given. Not all VAs will return? What else can we realistically expect?

It wouldn't be a big deal for me if not all the actors return. As long as Ryo's voice is there it's okay.
Shenhua should be voiced by a new actress anyway, the one in Shenmue II was pretty terrible.
All the other characters won't have that much screen time (as far as we know right now) and if possible new actors give a similar performance to what we know it will be alright.

I'm glad Corey Marshall is coming back. He deserved it for being such a strong supporter of the community over the years. Outside of that, I really don't care. Even though I have the Xbox version, I've always played the Dreamcast version of Shenmue II so I'm not familiar with the English cast of Shenmue II. Most characters from Shenmue, who many of us know by their English voices, are still in Japan and probably won't appear in Shenmue III anyway.

The only one I'd be disappointed in would be Lan Di.
I thought he was the best of the bunch.

He totally rocked that menacing bad guy voice.

I am playing in Japanese but I don't mind at all if they return. That'd be a great opportunity for them and we're used to their voice. Now if we have to get new voice actors, I wouldn't mind as well.

Regarding previous japanese voice actors, nothing much I can say but do not expect all of them to back because as you already know, some are not working anymore, so we'll probably get a new cast.

The VA of Shenhua in the DC version of SII was incredible! Did you mean the NA Xbox version? I was sadly one of those who never got very far in to the Xbox version due to its lousy voice work. Personally it completely destroyed the atmosphere/seriousness that the DC version had.

I think we can all agree the Shenmue 1 voice actress for Shenhua is a million times better than the Shenmue 2 one. I've only just gotten use to her after 14 years.


Personally, i could never take the intro for Shenmue 2 seriously with her voice. It sounded like she had a cold. But then again that's the struggle with voicing multiple characters.

Her English voice in the first game is much better but sadly you don't really hear very much at all from her.

True but people are discussing the Japanese VA as well so I was a little confused as to which one you meant. Sorry if I caused any upset.
