Here we are, the last (and very important) announcements before the magical year that was 2015 comes to a close!

Reward Poll Redo

In the last update we added a link for a Twitter poll asking if Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards should be made available on the Slacker Backer PayPal page. There were many who were against the use of Twitter for the poll as many do not have a Twitter account and also because the poll should have been made available only to Kickstarter Backers. True and true. So we will try this one more time so that all Backers at the appropriate pledge level may participate.

The poll can be accessed by the link in the update immediately following this one. We apologize for the mistake and kindly ask for your feedback and participation.

PayPal Period Extension

So why bother with this when there are only a few days left on the Slacker Backer campaign? That is because the deadline has been extended! Many of you have asked for an extension, and we have been late in coming with promised add-on/up-grades system, so the Slacker Backer PayPal page will stay up and running to accept pledges. All contributions made will continue to go to the game’s development.

Guinness World Record Presentation

It is official now, Shenmue III is in the Guinness World Records. The good people from Guinness World Records paid Ys Net and Mr. Suzuki a visit a few days ago to hold an impromptu ceremony and present the certificates for “The most money pledged for a Kickstarter video game” at $6,333,296, and for “The fastest $1 million pledged for a crowdfunded video game” at 1 hour 44 minutes.

This miracle is all thanks to you, so be proud and say it loud, “Hey, I did that!”

But why the hell did it take them a month to ask the same damn question again, this time on a survey ANYONE can respond to (including trolls who didn't back anything)?

Just get the PC option on there and send out those surveys. We Kickstarter backers can't do anything even if you offer every single tier on Slacker Backer.

I guess they just dont know any better way to do it right now, survey monkey a shit, its based on cookies so anyone can vote as much as they want.

1) The PayPal campaign was requested by fans who either needed more time to save up the funds or couldn't use the limited payment options available on the Kickstarter. They weren't just lazy bastards who couldn't be bothered backing the proper campaign.

2) Those who would have backed at a higher level to gain perks like the phone card now have that incentive taken away from them. Reincluding these options may therefore encourage more/higher donations, bringing us closer to the next stretch goal and improving development on the game that you will be playing. So if you won't vote yes for them, vote yes for your own selfish bastard side who'll get a better Shenmue 3 because of it.

IMO the only meaningful changes would be Kickstarter upgrades and PC options. Just look at how little anyone cares about this over at NeoGAF, for instance. Starting to just lose people's interest with these weak updates.

That's because, for most people, the campaign is over. It's time to for the game to enter development (which it has) and time for us to await the game. 99% of people who care enough about Shenmue 3, will have already pledged money and the massive amount of hyper created back in June cannot be maintained.

The Paypal slacker backer is good for those who are late to the party and it will allow some additional money to trickle in, but anyone who thought it would generate millions of dollars, even if there was a better marketing campaign behind it, is sadly mistaken.
