What I want to promote is a snail-mail blitz, something they can't deal with just by clicking a mouse.
If someone can send me good examples of Shenmue artwork, designs, fonts etc that I can make full use of, I would be grateful. I'm now aiming at the end of January to get something up and running.
Correct. Email will do NOTHING but tie up Sega's networks with worthless emails. They're too easy to ignore and delete. Sending them something in the mail forces them to actually DO something with said items.
Look at it this way: how many spams do you get a day? Yeah, we all can, and many of us do, get a lot of emails. It's not difficult. And it's not difficult to filter and delete them either. Many of us also get a lot of junk mail in the mail box, but a) a lot less, and b) even if you throw it out, you still have to look at it to know it's not junk (or even if you do know it's junk... how many times have you turned things over and read them on the way to the trash?)
Bottom line is we need to do some massive snail mail campaign, possibly in multiple waves. We need organization and professionalism. NO threats, NO horrible grammar. I've offered to help Silas with writing up guidelines. And yes, we're probably going to end up suggesting HANDWRITTEN letters and/or artwork. It's more personal. There are exceptions for those who have horrible handwritting, created artwork on the computer, etc etc. Basically, the more time you take, the more personal it is, the more meaning it will have. There won't be any templates for you to print out as all letters should be personalized (seeing a trend?) Tips will be offered, general guidelines for things to say, mailing addresses, etc etc.
Don't think Silas and/or myself will be doing all the work for you. In fact, it's the opposite way around. We'll be relying on YOU to spread the word, on YOU to create your art and letters, and YOU to follow through. If we can get word about this in magazines and on other game sites it stands a much better chance of succeeding. But even if only a few hundred people from here do this, getting 100+ capsules, or whatever we finally agree upon, over a 2-3 day span is something that will get someone's attention.
Silas, if you want my help in anything feel free to email or PM me.
