I'm Dan Sheridan's godson. He said he's the new executive VP of SEGA and that Shenmue HD will never see the light of day!

Update on this article: http://www.ricedigital.co.uk/shenmue-hd ... ming-2017/

SHENMUE HD UPDATE! – 9/3/2017
Over the last few weeks I’ve had a huge amount of messages (thanks all!) regarding the Shenmue leak, so I thought I should clarify a few points in the body of this article rather than in the comments below. So many people have reported on this story it’s amazing how many have distorted some of the detail.

The only things I know for certain are;
1/ Shenmue HD is complete. It’s basically done.
2/ Shenmue HD will be released this year.

The elements which I have not received 100% confirmation of.
1/ I don’t know specifics about publisher or platforms.
2/ PS4 wasn’t mentioned – but that’s not to say it won’t happen. (It will be of course) but I don’t KNOW this for a fact. (But of course it will be)
3/ Episode 1&2 together ‘may be’ released together.
4/ Shenmue 3 delay is pretty likely.

ILJG guesswork – because why not.
1/ Probably confirmed before E3 – because GET ON WITH IT ALREADY.
2/ Fuku-san Bikini DLC packs – every week from launch.
3/ Someone somewhere at Sega must see the wisdom of releasing Phantasy Star Online on Switch, right?
4/ Phantasy Star Online.
5/ Please GOD Phantasy Star Online.

^ Formulating his articles like some dumbass kid's post in a comments section doesn't really help the guy's crediblity, but still.. this somehow has a positive vibe to it.

Part of what makes me so sceptical about this (besides the fact, as per usual, there are no specifics besides "it's coming guys!") is the Shenmue III claim.

Why would some random nobody in Atlus USA know about Shenmue III's delay status? Why would someone working in an American branch of a Japanese subsidiary of SEGA have knowledge of a project being made at a completely different studio from their parent company?

Even if SEGA were genuinely coordinating with YSnet on a long-term release strategy for Shenmue HD and Shenmue III (and there's no evidence that they are), how the fuck would the information be passed from YSnet, to SEGA head management, to SEGA rank and file (management probably wouldn't talk about this around the watercooler, they should - in theory - know "loose lips sink ships"), passed to ATLUS, to ATLUS USA (who's main work is translation)?

Honestly? It just seems like the article author is looking to build some rumour credibility by making easy predictions based on earlier rumblings about Shenmue HD and the widely-held assumption YSnet won't hit December 2017.

I'm not formulating anything. Just posted his update on it...

I think Monkei's comment was aimed at the author, not you.

Spaghetti wrote:Why would some random nobody in Atlus USA know about Shenmue III's delay status?

I'm not certain the author ever intended that to sound like anything other than his own conjecture. He perhaps just didn't do a good job of distinguishing it from his source's claims.
