Least it gives us a little interest again :)

Well i'm not a 1000+ poster but i've been around here a long time,Me and most people who have been here a long time are pessimistic simply due to how many times we've seen these "Shenmue III @ E3" "Sega to announce secret game it's Shenmue III" Rumours and the rest of the bull that lesser known sites keep coming out with (Always before E3 funnily enough).

We've seen it so many times since 2002 and been let down year in year out and i think most of us have had enough of this plain bullshit journalism that we just refuse to believe it.

Untill Shenmue is mentioned on major websites i will never believe a shenmue rumour ever again and i'm sure lots of people are the same.

But that being said it's still decent to see the shenmue name being mentioned i suppose.

This is Sega's way of saying "GET OUTTA MY FACE!"

I wouldn't get my hopes up. Then again, I'm very cynical.

Shenmue III for E3 unveiling?

Surely not...

by Luke Guttridge
2 june 2008

It was last week rumoured that Shenmue III could be in top-secret development at Sega, the Japanese publisher plotting an E3 unveiling in July.

Speculation that the celebrated RPG series could be set for a third offering saw forum users getting more than a little excited, but we don't think anything is for certain, Sega offering "no comment" when pressed on the game's existence.

Quite where this chit-chat emerged from remains unclear, although Sega's recent announcement that it has licensed Epic's Unreal Engine technology for a new title was greeted by the advent of these rumours pointing to Shenmue III.

So, it could all be nonsense. We'll let you know more on this as soon as we do.

This sort of stuff happens every year but this has really came out of nowhere in my opinion... I thought we were looking at a possible Wii retro-bundle... Not an Unreal Engine 3 super sequel!

More podcast fodder... :P

Even mentioning "Shenmue" will get you a "No comment" response from Sega, so this means nothing. Hell, they'll spit out that "No comment" bullshit before you even finish your sentence.

Goddamnit Joe, stop getting me excited, I'm wearing skin-tight jeans.*

Anyway.. I doubt this will be anything about Shenmue for three reasons:

1) They've only just recently announced that they're using the Unreal3 engine for 'a game'.
2) That means that they've only recently started development, therefore would have next to nothing to show for the game (which I doubt they'd do considering what happened with Online).
3) If they were ready to show anything of the game, it would more than likely have voice actors, and I doubt they'd leave Corey Marshall out in the cold. I remember Suzuki specifically mentioning that he preferred the English dub to the Japanese voice actors.

*I'm not really, and never will do, it was just for the sake of the joke. Goddamn Indie hippies...

-just passing through- wrote:still trying to understand the relevance of why people do that "Shanmoo"?????

The Shamoo-thing probably has to do with translations from translation engines on the internet. Well, a couple of times when I wrote Shenmue it translated it as Shamoo at least. But if I'm correct, Sha Mu is actually the correct translation in Chinese which might confuse some of those engines.

And about this "No comment"...what can I say except "No comment"? :P

It probably is like someone mentioned, Sega's way of say fuck off. Who knows, maybe it'll be added in dictionaries in the future. When people look up the word comment they might find this expression between the examples of how to use the word in sentences ;)

In ancient religious cults they said "no commo" which translates roughly to "give life" like many words/terms from other languages we use in the English language we got the term "No Comment".
I made all that shit up,no comment just means that no comment it niether confirms nor denies anything other than they have nothing to say at that moment.
