I notice they've also removed the "Days Left" counter. I hope they do add another counter at some point in the future since a sense of urgency will lead to more donations (i.e. why there's nearly always a last-minute surge on Kickstarters or on eBay auctions).

Only if they actually intend to stop taking donations though. They've got to repay their loyal fanbase with honest behaviour, and that excludes tricking people into spending money by knowingly creating that sense of urgency.

I am hoping that the Paypal stays open for 12 months, just for the simple reason that I am still paying off my original donation, but once that's completed, I could donate more money. I'd love the Crystal Sculpture, as well as the Matsukaze jacket, but I would need a lot more time to get together the money needed. In fact, I really wouldn't mind just picking up one of the replica jackets instead, so I am hoping it stays open for quite some time.
Perhaps if E3 arrives and the Paypal is still open, it could attract a bit more donations too. I don't see why not to keep it going indefinitely.

Haven't they said before that they need to close it to know how much money they have before they start development? If they leave it open there is simply noway to know. I guess we aren't talking about millions though, so even if they keep it open they will have a pretty rough idea anyway.

Did they say how long paypal will stay open because I only get money once a month and i want to buy something else for the month of January before I donate more money for Shenmue 3.

Nah, it's not a good idea to leave it open indefinitely because it'll disrupt the game design process and the current budgeting allocation. It's best for it to end by the time the development team are out of the prototyping phase.
