Has anyone done a highlights video of this dude? I started to watch it but 50 minutes is too long to sift through to find his best bits.

Someone really ought to. Call it Joel (Fanta) Tess reactions for greater justice. He's built a legend of his own with that.

Not that I know of, the closest you're gonna get is these animated gifs:

And Yu Suzuki's soul piercing stare at Joel (that somebody on here has as their avatar).

It ain't just what he does, it's what he says, how he says it, etc.

Basically he's the kid at school that even bully victims woulda bullied.

I know it's the thing to kind of bash Awesome Japan, but I also think it's good to give some credit where it's due. They are trying to listen to our suggestions, and they have finally moved the stretch goals to the top of the page. I'm not against calling them out for doing something bone-headed, but fair is fair as well. Hopefully they can continue to improve on the page as we go along.

Agreed, you have to give credit where credit's due:

-Tess looks like Corey Marshall's younger, goofier brother. That in itself is awesome.

- He sometimes answers e-mails. Especially when awesome suggestions are given, free of charge.

I think there's close to 50,000 people who feel the same way. Most of the questions are pretty redundant so it'll probably be in the updates. But if you're asking about that Victorian velvet and lace codpiece for Ryo at the $11M tier, then by all means carry on.

No not that bad. Just if theres absolutely any chance of more dinner tiers being added.

If not that's cool. I will just pledge $500 and put the rest towards a deposit for a house.

I think, putting things into perspective, 50,000 backers is a really good number. Not as good as Bloodstained, but Bloodstained is the bigger property anyways due to Castlevania, anyways. But projects that have far more industry clout such as the new Planescape and Wasteland and Pillars would have 20k more than that. That's still pretty good for Shenmue, seen as an industry niche game, and there's a huge likelihood it could go beyond 50k. That'd be amazing.

I think that with the right publicity after the KS, if Sony's marketing money hand does its magic, Shenmue 3 should pull off a million copies, but that's thinking very, very optimistically. Still, I have a friend who doesn't even like Shenmue and he says he's going to buy it.

Lemme guess... insecurity, revenge, bitterness, safety of being behind a computer screen... that kinda thing?
