PP never really kicked off to be honest. Only around 4,000 people have pledged and thats despite the game being not expensive to pre order

While i cant wait until shenmue it is clear there is only around 70,000-100,000 people interested which while isnt bad may not give success yu suzuki wants so not sure how well it will do commercially when released :(

I wouldn't equate backers with sales success metrics, there's not enough data to support that idea and honestly there's a lot of evidence that KS games sell much more than people who back them.

Broken Age sold three times more than the number of people who backed it on Steam alone.

I think the paypal was a resounding success.... think about it.. the paypal has already raised more than 10% of the original Shenmue 3 funding goal.

Also I'm sure most of the backers will buy an extra copy of Shenmue 3 to give to a friend... if nothing else than to help ensure a 4th installment.

On-topic though, yeah. The PayPal has calmed down because of a. lack of exposure, b. lack of new materials out there, and c. continued fallout from the poor reporting on the poll.

Calm before the storm though, I believe. Magic Monaco is coming.

It's obvious this campaign needs a boost. Loyal fans are not enough, we need to attract newcomers. If only Yu would take his inspiration from this fanmade video for the MAGIC 2016 teaser : http://youtu.be/2f6CkKOFZW0 [-o<

I'm not that optimistic tbh, the campaign that could attract new people was the KS one, the pp campaign is much more obscure. And imo the fans have finally been squeezed dry i don't see it gaining any boost from Magic Monaco.

I wouldn't be so pessimistic. Even if the big news sites don't pay a tremendous amount of attention to the Magic Monaco materials, it'll still get exposure through fans spreading the word. I'll certainly be making a NeoGAF thread about it and keeping it lively. That's a lot of exposure on one forum alone.

It's not going to be megabucks like the KS was, but it'll certain start an uptick.

At $302 per day it'll take over 31 more years to make another 3.5 million to reach the 10M goal.

Makes you wish Suzuki started this paypal back in 2001.... we would been 1/2 way there!

Hopefully they are preparing some update in conjunction with the Magic Monaco event.
I haven't lost hope on the Kickstarter upgrades.

Were you aware of this s**t?

Image

"Get it on PS4 on its release day Guaranteed!"
There is officially no confirmation of a physical retail version at the moment!!!

The price on this site is higher compared to the price for an exclusive PS4 Physical copy if you are a backer. In other words... a s****y deal!

And most of all, this s**t actually STEALS money from the game developpement.

Good point. It's the same situation at Fnac.com, a large retail chain in France ( http://jeux-video.fnac.com/a8792803/She ... yStation-4 ).

It is worth calling out YSnet/Biscay if they can do something (unless you're considering they actually give some publicity and precious post-money to the franchise).
